Description of Montenegro multi activity holiday, surf and turf

This multi-activity holiday is a fantastic way to discover two regions of Montenegro: its northern mountains and its stunning coastline.

The tour includes nine full days of activities: trekking, rafting, cycling, rock climbing via ferrata, ski lift ride, zip lining, sailing, boat cruise in Kotor Bay, sea kayaking & stand up paddle boarding (SUP). Alongside all the amazing adventure activities, you’ll get to discover two different picturesque locations; Durmitor National Park and Kotor Bay, both of them UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Our holiday starts in the mountains of Montenegro, where our base camp offers beautiful mountain views and the lush green forest of Durmitor is only meters away. The surrounding area contains a phenomenal 18 glacial lakes, alongside many canyons, caves and tall mountain peaks. Durmitor's Tara River, where we will go rafting, is the second deepest canyon in the world, after the Grand Canyon. The local town of Zabljak offers many great restaurants, cafes and bars to choose from for evening entertainment.

The town of Herceg Novi in the Kotor Bay is truly breathtaking, known as the 'Monte Carlo' of the Montenegrin coastline!.Here, you'll stay in a property near the seafront, not far from the charming Old town, the pretty seafront promenade, and again an abundance of restaurants, bars and cafes.

This holiday is ideal for groups of guests, with a minimum of 4 guests required per holiday booking. Our mountain camp has 4 self-catering apartments, spread over a large garden space, with a total of 6 double bedrooms and 6 bathrooms, and comfortably sleeps groups of 14 guests. Our coastal properties can accommodate larger or smaller groups.

We did the Surf and Turf tour with our 15 and 12 year old in August 2023 and would highly recommend! Stan and G are absolutely brilliant hosts and gave us a really personal experience and the whole family agreed it was one of the best family holidays we have ever done. Read full review

Durmitor is incredible, the hike through the forest to see the Black Lakes was amazing, as was the rafting through the Tara river canyon - but the drive back from Durmitor to Niksic, with the amazing views around every band - I will never forget it. Read full review

The most memorable part of this trip would have to be the beautiful scenery that you encounter through each of the activities. The most exciting part was the canyoning activity which I thoroughly enjoyed. Read full review

We loved the cycling tour day in Durmitor which included taking the ski-lift and then climbing to the top of Savin Kuk through swathes of alpine flowers, then cycling along quiet back roads with the mountains always in view, to a lake for swimming, where flocks of sheep were being shepherded by on the other side. Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.

Planet

We have been living by the coast in Montenegro for over 16 years. We are lovers of nature and along with the stunning Montenegrin coastline we also very much enjoy the mountains of Montenegro and especially the UNESCO National park of Durmitor. We absolutely love and appreciate our camp which is surrounded by its perfect nature and it's scenic setting, and for guests to enjoy both adventures and relaxing. Along with pristine nature there is an abundance of great adventure activities on offer for all guests to take part in and we hope all our guests will have a relaxing and fun filled active holiday stay with us.

Nearly all of our activities have the concept of Eco tourism and mostly all of our activities are deemed as not harmful to the environment. Indeed the Durmitor National Park is a UNESCO protected national park and considered an 'Air' spa for visitors.

We provide all our guests with a friendly welcome BBQ meal and drink on arrival of stay. We also provide packed lunches and we buy all our produce directly from the market place, from local farmers in the area, such as locally produced jams, preserves, fruit berries, meats and cheeses. We also have a cultural day out where our guests shall have a traditional Montenegrin meal which again has all foods and drinks that are locally produced such as meats, wines and plum brandy, etc.

Our camp is surrounded by green fields, mountains and forests and we shall be discarding wherever possible all rubbish for recycling. We shall also have our outdoor lights run on solar energy and energy saving bulbs. We also offer our guests free usage of mountain bikes which we shall encourage our guests to use, so they can travel around the area by Eco transport.

Our team leaders are all local to the area and we hope to show our guests the benefits of protecting our environment on our activities. Our Hiking team leaders are also part of the conservation of the Durmitor forest and they will be explaining all aspects of nature to our guests on activities.

People

We directly aim to create jobs and employ and empower local people in that region, which are heavily dependent on incomes from tourism in this region. Locals in the Durmitor region generally live from tourism or farming and so it's a massive chunk of their income to be involved within the sector of tourism.

We employ many team leaders and also have a staff for the day to day running of our camp. We are hoping that we shall be able to make a difference in the community by employing locals and they shall have a direct benefit of being employed and gaining an income from our weekly package stays.

We shall encourage all of our staying guests to explore Durmitor for themselves on free days and evening times, and hope they'll visit local restaurants, cafes and eateries in the town of Zabljak which will economically help other local business's.

This is our first season in 2016 and we shall hopefully be a success this year and we shall endeavor to include as much possible for local people to be employed and for income to be spent back into the camp and to stay with the community.
