Planet
This Cherry Blossom tour of South Korea makes comprehensive use of public transport between destinations, with very limited private transfers (only two for arrival and departure). There are 4 rail journeys included and we provide all travellers with directions, guides and a pre-loaded, re-loadable T-Money card which can be used on all public transport in South Korea, including rail, subway, bus, airport coaches and even some cable cars!Where possible, accommodation has been selected for its proximity to rail and public transport hubs meaning none are more than 10 minutes walk to a suitable public transport hub or stops.
Recent regulation in South Korea prohibits accommodation with more than 50 bedrooms from providing complimentary single-use toothbrushes, toothpaste, razors, shampoo, and conditioner for free. As a result, most provide refillable dispensers and many smaller establishments have followed this regulation voluntarily and most are now also using refillable dispensers, thus removing unnecessary plastic from the environment.
Within this tour, we have included two shared itineraries tour from Seoul, which makes use of a coach / minibus and includes a reasonable amount of walking between points of interest, thus removing the vehicle from the road more. The shared DMZ tour operates similarly.
The feature of the trip, to Jinhae Cherry Blossom Festival, is also shared transport which also involves a reasonable pedestrian element with clients making their own way to and from the meeting point.
People
LOCAL ECONOMYAll accommodation in this itinerary trip is Korean owned and operated, providing employment to locals and keeping income in the local economy.
One accommodation, is a heritage accommodation attached to a UNESCO listed village and recognised for its cultural value. All employees live within the village thus ensuring its local feel, charm and keeping the local economy strong.
The owners of the accommodation in Eunpyeong Hanok Village, Seoul, and Gyeongju both live on site and the properties are family owned and operated. Eunpyeong is lcose to many local and independent shops and restaurants, as well as being located within 200m of the bus stop.
Local guides are employed and there are numerous markets in Seoul within walking distance to visit, as well as the markets at Insadong and Cheonggyeong visited as part of the shared tour.
EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY
Our DMC is female owned and operated and has recently employed 5 more people, 4 of whom are female, to help with demand for South Korea.
We believe strongly in this ethos. Sustainability is also something our partners take seriously, particularly local ownership, supporting local businesses and communities, reducing unnecessary waste, and making sure that the money generated by tourism stays within the local economy wherever possible.
South Korea is a tolerant country which believes in equality and its constitution prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex, religion, and social status. This includes LGBTQ rights and the legal right to self-determine your sex.
