Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
Planet
We are totally committed to respecting and conserving the habitat of the marine mammals of the fiords, the orca, humpback whales, harbour porpoise and fin whales, and encourage our guests to follow our lead.We encourage and promote marine tourism and educate our guests to lobby against whaling that is still practised in Norway, in the hope they will cease this practise.
We only work with suppliers who have strict environmental policies for: the safe disposal of waste & grey water and recycling of plastic, glass etc.
Our clients are informed of the need to adhere strictly to our waste disposal policies during their time with us. This insures that they do nothing to disturb or change the balance in the marine eco-system which is vital in the pristine waters of the fjords.
We educate our guests with evening lectures on the fragility of our eco-systems of the marine life in the fjords of Norway.
We collect whale I.D. photos for researchers in Norway.
We do not print information brochures, all our information is on our website where information can be downloaded if and when required. All paper in our offices is recycled and we refrain from accepting plastic bags, containers or wrapping whenever possible.
People
We have a strict policy of working with a variety of accommodation facilities, charter companies, restaurants, taxis, local tour operators, growers etc thus insuring that the local businesses and communities benefit from our personally escorted eco-tours.We give information to our guests about where they can purchase locally-made arts, crafts and souvenirs at small locally owned businesses, restaurants and accommodation in Tromso to increase the local trade and economy.
We ensure that our suppliers (charter boats owners, resorts and hotels) employ local skippers and guides and other staff whenever possible.
We educate our guests about other activities and wilderness and wildlife attractions in the Tromso region. We actively encourage our guests to stay on in the local area and to explore and experience the local foods, arts and culture.
We will continue to promote the beauty and uniqueness of this wonderful wilderness region to our international eco-tourism oriented client list.
