1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
The uniqueness of getting to drive your own tuk tuk and take it up into the hills and national park! You get fun looks from people wondering what an earth a tuk tuk is doing there :-)
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Take layers - it does get cold in the north and the temperature difference as you go into the hills and out of the sun is really noticeable - especially if it's a bit windy and you're of course in the open air. We did have a cosy blanket provided which was more than adequate though.
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes. The guides are all local and we also had a local guide when trekking on the third day in the national park. You are taken to genuinely local places with local food. You are given a water bottle and there's a big water barrel on the guides' tuk tuk so you don't need to buy bottled water
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Excellent. Such a fun and unique thing to do. We also learned so much about local culture, food and day to day life from our guide and saw places we would never otherwise have visited.
Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.

PLASTICSingle use plastic is a major challenge in Thailand not only with water bottles but also with food wrappings (it's not uncommon to have 4-5 plastic bags for one serving of food). Whilst clean water and staying hydrated is very important we are committed to ending our use of single use plastic water bottles by the end of 2019. In addition, when trekking all food is wrapped in banana leaves, utensils are metal and all waste is carried out of the forest by our team.
PARTNERS
Our partners (we prefer the term partners to suppliers at it more accurately reflects our relationship with them!) in this adventure who provide our accommodation, food etc are all local to the villages we pass through and stay in and are committed, along with us, to delivering all experiences in as sustainable a way as possible. We stay with communities who have been living in this area for generations and are reliant on effective and sustainable use of the local environment for their livelihood. They engage in organic farming, rely on local flora for traditional cures and healing and committed to educating not only young people in the community but also visitors as to how they can develop their communities whilst leaving as gentle a footprint as possible.
People
LOCAL CRAFTS AND CULTUREThroughout this adventure we spend our time with small, rural hill tribe communities. They own and operate accommodation themselves, provide our evening meals and also spend time with us talking about their way of life, their culture, their history and their hope for the future. By staying in these communities we, and you, are able to help support their initiatives, to show by example how small group, well managed travel experiences can help support communities and show that travellers are interested and value the privilege of experiences such as this.
TRAVELLING WITH RESPECT
We would not be able to run any of our adventures without the support and backing of the communities we visit and spend time with and a mutual respect between travellers and communities is key to everything we do. Our guides are always on hand to facilitate conversations and translations wherever needed and are passionate and knowledgeable about not only the region as a whole but the individual communities we spend time with. Our traveller experiences are greatly enhanced by the close relationships we have in each community and the way in which our travellers and team always act with respect and courtesy to all.
