Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

Planet

As a responsible tour operator, we pride ourselves on only working with local, independent partners who share in our passion to positively impact our local communities and environment.

Our expert mountain bike guides will ensure you are well briefed in the ways of the Welsh countryside, keeping livestock safe and protecting the native wildlife. There are many places all over North Wales where people ride mountain bikes, however often the routes they use are not appropriate. These illegal routes damage the landscape, causing irreversible erosion of the hillsides and moorland. They also often disturb nesting birds, such as the rare Black Grouse. The heather-clad moorlands around Llandegla are the perfect habitat for this shy bird, but irresponsible mountain bikers put its future at risk when they don’t respect the restrictions in place to protect it. There is so much fun to be had on two wheels in this region, with a little knowledge and respect, mountain bikers and the natural environment can both thrive side by side. Our guides will ensure you experience the very best riding North Wales has to offer, while showing the utmost respect to our precious environment.
We are also opting for intimate, locally-owned accommodations, embarking on a journey propelled solely by human power, with the convenience of having our luggage transported by vehicle, and ensuring that our starting and ending points are conveniently located near train stations.

People

At the heart of everything we do is a passion to support our local community. One of the best ways we can do this is to solely work with local independent partners, all of whom are equally passionate about supporting the community in which they're based. Finding employment in rural areas has always been a challenge and often leads to young people feeling they have no choice but to move away when they reach employment age.

Our mountain bike guides all live locally so they know the area like the back of their hand. And when you’re welcoming guests into your home, it’s natural to have a passion for ensuring they have the best possible experience.

Both mountain bike trail centres that we visit are significant employers within their local areas too, creating much needed opportunities for young people especially. We’re proud to support both centres by incorporating their trails and cafes into this epic mountain bike holiday. Both centres also source their cafe produce locally, ensuring the provenance of your food as well as doing their bit to support the local economy.
