Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

Planet

Carbon Reduction

Once you set off, you will be travelling by bike for the duration of your journey, making this a very low carbon trip. We have also planned this trip to start and finish a short walk from Machynlleth train station, which has good links to the rest of the UK, making it possible to travel by train to reduce your carbon footprint even further.

To further reduce our carbon footprint, we use British made equipment as much as possible. All the bikepacking bags you will use are made in the UK or Germany.

Environment & Wildlife

You will be provided with a good quality water bottle, which you are encouraged to refill, illuminating the need to buy bottled water. You're welcome to keep the water bottle and take it home to continuing using it.

We have committed to not using any single use plastics on our trips. To achieve this, if you choose to camp, you will be provided with breakfast pouches which are made using compostable packaging.

The majority of this trip takes place in the Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park, one of the most visited parts of the UK, but in an attempt to tackle the issue of over tourism, we have planned the route to avoid tourist pinch points, straying further off the beaten track, whilst remaining on to less discovered, but equally spectacular parts of the National Park. People who have done this trip often comment how they 'barely saw anyone'.

Local Economy

On this trip you will go on a journey, moving on each day, eventually ending up back where you started. This means that the money you spend along the way, in the independent cafes, pubs, restaurants, gift shops and shops is spread more widely to support the local economy.

In addition to this, we also use independently and locally owned Bed & Breakfasts, Hotels and campsites to support the local economy in anyway we can. This also mean that we can build good long lasting relationships with the owners, which in turn makes for a better experience for our customers.

Customers will be provided with a guidebook, which contains information about the route, as well as information about the history and culture of the area. As the route passes through areas where Welsh is widely spoken, there is also a section on the Welsh language with some basic phrases for you to learn. The guidebooks also contains a section on responsible travel, with some suggestions of how they can reduce their carbon footprint.
