Responsible tourism

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we screen every trip so you can travel knowing your holiday will help support conservation and local people.

We understand that travel is a privilege, so we seek to create a positive impact in every destination we visit. Established in 2017, Small Change is our socially conscious initiative that helps us do just that.

Beach cleanups are a regular occurrence on our trips. Just like you, we want to protect our oceans, waterways and marine life, so you’ll often find us and our awesome travellers collecting rubbish as we go. As well as our impromptu cleans, we’ve also partnered with organisations like Trash Hero in Thailand, and Gili Eco Trust in Indonesia, to further promote the message.

To help reduce single use plastics and promote reusable alternatives, we’ve installed refillable water stations at nearly all of our overnight stops, and at many of our activity locations.

We advise all our travellers to bring a reusable water bottle when they travel, but for those that don’t we also sell reusable bottles on all our trips.

We've partnered with Eden Reforestation Projects to help protect, preserve and rebuild the natural world. We plant 10 trees for every INTRO Travel booking made.

By hiring local villagers to plant trees in Nepal, Haiti, Indonesia & more, Eden Reforestation Projects are helping replant forests, restore animal habitats and reduce poverty and INTRO Travel are proud to support them with your help.

The Impacts of this Trip

We ensure that every trip we run has a direct and positive impact on the local communities we visit. This means that your money is being used to support the local economy, and going direct to those who need it most. Every one of our trips includes a variety of #smallchanges that you’ll get to experience first hand.

As opposed to being a cultural observer, our trips are designed to help you understand and respect local cultures, traditions and ways of life. Through sharing knowledge and understanding, we ensure that your travels are mutually beneficial for both you, and those you are visiting.

From the moment we started visiting Lovina, a beautiful and rural area in Northern Bali, we knew we wanted to support the local community in some way. Then, as if by magic, we met Gede, who lives with his family on a small farm and coffee plantation. Fast forward to today, where all our groups visiting Lovina have the chance to visit Gede, learn about the traditional art of basket weaving, and ask questions about local life.
