Our small group adventure holidays

Small in group size (think no more than 16 and usually far less), and big on thrills, these holidays take into account that adventurers come in all descriptions. If you need a little nudge to get out of your comfort zone, you’ll find it in a supportive and inclusive group with an expert guide leading the way and helping you push yourself. If you seek an adrenaline-pumping challenge, we’ve got plenty of them too, from epic overland expeditions to long-distance treks. And, of course, we’ve got everything in between as well. Our small group adventure holidays will inspire you to do great things.

Highlights of our small group adventure holidays

What to expect from a small group adventure holiday

First and most importantly, these trips are not about competition. There are no winners and losers, instead everyone achieves a goal together, in a supportive and motivational atmosphere. On any small group trip you’ll likely find at least a few people who will be travelling solo. They’re also great for couples and friends, and if you have kids there are specific family-friendly holidays too. Itineraries are kept fairly flexible to take into account weather conditions, and typically they’ll also include some free time, where you can go off and do your own thing.

Groups are led by professional tour leaders and, where necessary, you’ll also link up with qualified and experienced instructors. They’re often local people, so they know when it’s safe to raft a river and when not; they can identify the sound of an animal in the bush at night; and they can give you the confidence you need to abseil down a waterfall.

Why go on a small group adventure holiday

The great thing about our range of small group adventure holidays is that whatever you fancy doing, be it swimming, summiting mountains, horse riding or white-water rafting, there’s something for everyone. You can, essentially, choose your own adventure.

The benefits of joining a small group for your adventure are legion. Most obviously, everything is planned for you, so that whether you’re trekking in Patagonia, sea kayaking off Scotland or bonding with the kids over canyoning in Croatia, you can enjoy the thrills without having to worry about the logistics. This also means that you can have confidence in heading to remote areas or trying a new activity for the first time. And small group adventure holidays are budget-friendly too, as you’ll share the costs of guides, instructors and transport with everyone else.

Types of trip

Adventure means different things to different people, and while some of us crave a big adrenaline rush on our holidays, others would prefer to step out of their comfort zone just a little at a time. For that reason, you’ll find great diversity among our range of small group adventure holidays. There is ‘soft’ adventure, like walking holidays and snorkel safaris, and there are more challenging propositions, such as packrafting expeditions, coast-to-coast cycling marathons or trans-ocean sailing holidays. And for those with the time, there are epic overland adventures that take weeks or months to explore Alaska, Central America, even around the world.

One thing all of our small group adventures have in common is that they immerse you in the natural world. Some will take you into remote wilderness areas where you rely on each other and your guide for a week or more. And some trips, of course, require a greater degree of physical fitness than others. Climbing Kilimanjaro, for instance, is a whole different ballgame to a walk along the Amalfi Coast. If you’re wondering whether a trip is suitable for you then contact us and we can provide more information.
