This tour avoids all internal flights. All travel within Tunisia, from Tunis to Ain Draham, Sousse, Matmata, and Tozeur, is by shared, air-conditioned minibus or 4x4 vehicles, reducing the need for air travel and keeping the group’s carbon footprint low.

Shared local transport
The itinerary is operated as a small-group tour (maximum 12 travellers), with one shared vehicle for all transfers and sightseeing. This shared transport significantly reduces emissions per traveller compared to individual or private transport options.

Human-powered transport
Human-powered travel is an important feature of this itinerary. Guests take part in guided walking tours through the Medinas of Tunis, Sousse, and Kairouan, as well as nature walks and a guided forest hike in Ain Draham and the mountain oases of Chebika, Tamerza, and Mides. These experiences encourage low-impact exploration and immersion in natural landscapes.

Local-sourced and seasonal food
The tour includes several experiences highlighting Tunisia’s local and seasonal produce. All accommodation on the tour is locally owned, using existing hotels and traditional Berber camps. The Berber desert camp operates with minimal environmental footprint and is designed to respect its fragile desert surroundings through low-impact practices.

Entrance fees are included for several UNESCO World Heritage and protected heritage sites, including the Medinas of Tunis, Sousse, and Kairouan; the Amphitheatre of El Jem; and the archaeological sites of Dougga and Bulla Regia. These fees help preserve Tunisia’s cultural and natural heritage.

Contribution to nature recovery or rewilding projects
Visits to the mountain oases of Chebika, Tamerza, and Mides include guided walks with local experts who interpret these fragile desert ecosystems. These experiences raise awareness of water conservation and oasis ecology, helping to promote respect for local environments.
