Travel guides
There's much more to Bali than just beaches and sunshine, as our travel guide explores.
Under 40s holidays have transformed, and now you can travel across the globe.
Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.
Planet
WasteReducing waste is an extremely important factor in travelling responsibly, and it something we endeavour to impart on all of our trips. Though there are waste issues across the world, we are aware that the islands of Indonesia face major issues with rubbish, and we encourage our travellers to do their part to help this.
On our trips all travellers are given a locally made fabric tote bag to take with them wherever they go, so they do not need to use any plastic bags on offer whenever good are purchased from stores and markets. All travel on this itinerary which is completed by private vehicle includes a large tank of drinking water. Travellers are encouraged to bring their own re-usable water bottle so that they can re-fill it from this tank. This reduces the number of single-use plastic water bottles disposed of by our travellers.
Our trip leaders are also encouraged to have travellers come together and collect rubbish on the islands they visit while snorkelling and exploring by boat. This helps reduce the shocking amount of plastic waste seen in the beautiful Indonesian islands, as well as encouraging environmentally mindful thinking from our travellers which they will hopefully keep in mind on future travels.
People
Friends and NeighboursIt is deeply ingrained in us to support local, and this trip is designed to ensure that we support the local people of the islands of Indonesia, and sway away from giving business to large corporations. All accommodation in this trip is with run and managed by local people, we do not visit any large restaurants and endeavour to always support local businesses, we do our shopping from local markets, and we take our travellers to local artisans rather than large scale tourist shopping areas.
This ensures that we are spreading the income to where is it most needed and are supporting business that are run by Indonesian people, not outside influences.
Travelling with Respect
It is extremely important to us to respect the local culture and educate our travellers on the Indonesian people while with us. On arrival to this trip our Trip Leader hands out language cards to teach our travellers the important local phrases. Our Trip Leaders spend much time education the travellers on the local customs, beliefs, religion, and expectations of the people, so that we can always have a good relationship between our travellers and the local people. In this trip we visit and interact with people from a variety of religions and backgrounds, and our Trip Leaders advise how to be respectful and courteous, and how to dress and act to show deference.
