As part of our Small Change initiative, we support a range of environmental and community focused projects. In 2019, we partnered with Eden Reforestation Projects to plant 10 trees for every booking received. Since late 2023, we have also worked with Path Net Zero to measure the emissions associated with our tours and with Veritree to support verified tree planting projects.

Throughout the Philippines Adventure, travellers have the opportunity to experience some of the country's best known natural attractions, including the Sardine Run in Moalboal, the islands between Coron and El Nido, and the Underground River in Palawan. Throughout the trip, guides share information about responsible travel practices, including respecting local wildlife and helping care for the natural environments visited.

We recognise that tourism can contribute to poor animal welfare practices when experiences are not managed responsibly. That's why we support local animal welfare organisations and only include wildlife experiences that meet our animal welfare standards. We also care for a number of rescue animals at properties owned by INTRO Travel.

To help reduce the use of single use plastic bottles, refill stations are available at most of our overnight accommodation and many activity locations. Travellers are encouraged to bring a reusable water bottle, and reusable INTRO bottles are available for those who need one.

During our island hopping expedition from Coron to El Nido, we travel on traditional Filipino banca boats and stay in locally operated beachside camps, giving travellers the opportunity to experience island life and support local communities.

We work closely with our local suppliers to reduce the use of single use plastics, improve waste management practices where possible, and encourage responsible travel practices throughout the trip.

People

Through our Small Change socially conscious initiative established in 2017 we ensure that every trip we run has a direct and positive impact on the local communities we visit. This means that your money is being used to support the local economy, and going direct to those who need it most. Every one of our trips includes a variety of #smallchanges that you’ll get to experience first hand.

In the Philippines we embark on a special island hopping boat journey that takes us to some remote islands, where we get to not only enjoy the beauty and isolation but get to interact and directly benefit the communities that inhabit these small islands. We have the opportunity to provide resources and supplies to the community and give the local children a better chance of a quality education.

During our time in Palawan and El Nido we also support a number of local businesses, boat crews, restaurants, accommodation providers and guides, ensuring tourism income directly benefits the local communities we visit throughout the trip.

In the mountains of Siquijor, the beautiful island in the east of the Philippines we visit a number of local shamans who still practice the ancient healing techniques of their ancestors. Through our direct support we allow these communities to continue this near lost art and preserve their heritage.

Experiences throughout the itinerary, including traditional Filipino dance performances, local organic farm visits and interactions with local communities during the Jeepney tour, help travellers gain a more authentic understanding of Filipino culture and traditions while directly supporting the people who preserve them.
