Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
Planet
This walking holiday has been made as low impact as possible. We have tried to keep each guests carbon footprint as low as possible. This has been done through many things such as the accommodation choices. We have selected local and independent accommodation providers as close to the end points of each walking day to minimise transfer distances. Our guests will have the opportunity to learn about the natural environment they are walking through as well as the wildlife and the plants. We hope through exposing our guests to these beautiful natural environments they will go home inspired to help their own environments.
Where possible we encourage our guests to avoid single-use plastics. One of the ways we help with this is to supply them with a re-usable water bottle at the beginning of their trip. They can then re-fill these bottles at different points along the walk. They are also allowed to take this water bottle home with them. In the hope they adopt these practices once they arrive home too.
People
When we plan our adventures we always choose areas that would benefit from the boost to tourism, rather than be overwhelmed by it.Through keeping our group numbers small, we not only keep the authenticity of our trips but we also avoid contributing to over tourism, instead bringing tourism to smaller towns and villages that see less visitors in order to support their businesses.
We try to avoid peak seasons and run this trip in the off season as well. This helps support our tour leaders and accommodation providers during the quieter months. The seasonal weather of Wales sometimes forces young people to feel the need to move away for more reliable work and we would like to support them in feeling like they can stay in their local communities.
We encourage our guests to visit local pubs, restaurants and shops along the way, particularly in the more rural areas. Rural businesses rely on regular trade, so we always try to advocate the importance to buy local whenever possible.
