Travel guides
We have packed a lot of beauties into our France travel guide, including what we rate and what we don't.
Responsible Travel was built out of a love of solo travel, and we want to share the joy of it with you.
Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.
Planet
Our accommodations are a local B&B who specialize in sustainability and locally sourced produce, cheeses, and pastries for their nutrition and a cooking program, which is a part of our itinerary, using local, seasonal ingredients, herbs and spicesAny time we buy snacks for the road, we look for fresh and local bites; in France this might be fresh fruits, pastries, or local fresh made cheese.
On all of our trips, we focus on reduction of plastic and make sure that water jugs are available for refilling personal reusable water bottles. In the event of waste, recycle and composting, we direct guests to the appropriate bins and disposal method. In this part of France, safe, filtered water is easily available at our accommodations and restaurants. We also provide guests with a special discount code for a Grayl water filter if they'd like to reduce plastic waste even more by drinking filtered tap water.
People
Our France itinerary prioritizes locally owned suppliers including our local B&B and the restaurants that we visit. Our accommodations are locally owned and source much of the food from local organic farms.During our itinerary, we do a cooking class together, visit quaint French villages, historical sites, traditional French markets and discover Ariégeoise craftsmanship.
Our community partnership for France focuses around sustainable textiles in the region. Guests will venture on foot to visit the workshop of a local pastel artist where we will get to see a demonstration of how the brilliant blue dye is used for textiles and how the industry is thriving today in and around Toulouse as well as the history behind this local trade.
A portion of our trip sales are donated to our partner for their program. We believe that a sound understanding of the local culture and community is essential to a transformative travel experience.
