In June 2023 as an adventure travel operator we received the Travelife Partner level award which recognises our long-term efforts regarding sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility. We comply with more than 100 criteria, related to an operator’s office management, product range, international business partners and customer information. The Travelife Partner level standard is covering the ISO 26000 Corporate Social Responsibility themes, including environment, biodiversity, human rights, and labour relation. Travelife is the leading international sustainability certification for the travel sector. More than 35 national travel associations are promoting the scheme to their members including, SMAL, APAVT, UHPA, ANVR, ABTA, PATA and more.
We realise our moral obligation to take care of nature. We try our best to deal with climate change, use energy recourses rationally and protect the environment. Our local sustainability manager in Georgia organises special seminars and green events in order to achieve tangible results.
From 2018 we give preferences to hybrid cars wherever possible and in the future, we plan to actively use electric cars for our transfers.
On every trek in Georiga:
- 5 days of human powered travel ie. via trekking, to help minimise our CO2 emissions
- Minimise our plastic waste wherever possible and provide all our travellers with a complimentary Water-To-Go bottle on departure
- We operate with a ‘leave no trace’ ethos – take only memories, leave only footprints
People
We constantly work on various projects in order to create new tourism products. Our sustainable actions aim to improve living conditions in regions, promote local employment, and create new possibilities for the young generations at their native places. Our sustainable initiatives in cooperation with local communities have always been part of our identity. Since the start of our company, we commit to our social responsibility and search continuously for ways to improve quality and sustainability in our business and in our travel products. We do this by:- Encouraging local communities to stay in their households and invite foreign guests to enjoy local traditions with them.
- We are proud that we established several local guesthouses and helped develop a number of family-run businesses.
- We use local crew who are qualified Guides, support crew and drivers who are all extremely knowledgeable and experienced
- Our local crew reside in the Tusheti and Khevsureti and have their own horses. This results in these locals increasing their businesses every year, and they are investing in more equipment and local employment in order to support more guests
- In Girevi, Tusheti’s last inhabited place where only a few families reside, we visit a local family on Day 5 of our itinerary to help support the local community. This also encourages them to maintain such an historic place and not to abandon the area
