Description of Turkey swimming holiday

This lovely swimming holiday, based in the popular seaside resort of Kas, offers a unique perspective on Turkey’s sun-splashed Mediterranean coastline. Enjoy twice-daily swims from peaceful bays to deep blue crossings, in warm (22-24°C) clear water, with a group of soon-to-be-friends keeping you company (max. group size just 10). You’ll need to be comfortable swimming one kilometre non-stop, but no prior experience of open water swimming is necessary.

Average daily distances are 4-5 kilometres, so you’ll go at a relaxed pace with plenty of time to get to know your fellow swimmers, and dive underwater to see shoals of colourful fish and, perhaps an octopus or a turtle. A gulet (wooden fishing boat) accompanies you so that you can have a rest if necessary – delicious homecooked lunches using locally sourced produce are served on the deck!

Your guides are expert swim coaches, there to provide tips on technique, if you’d like, as well as leading the way, with underwater filming available too. Since open water swimming is always dictated by the tides and the weather, itineraries are deliberately kept flexible, but it’s very rare that you can’t swim.

For convenience, you’ll stay in a welcoming seafront hotel with a private beach. Air-conditioned, en suite rooms ensure a good night’s sleep, not that you’ll have trouble drifting off after a day of swimming. In the evenings, Kas offers a wide range of locally owned restaurants where your group can explore Turkish cuisine and get to know each other – these are very sociable trips ideal for couples, friends and solo travellers alike.

Price inclusions: 6 nights accommodation in a standard room, breakfast & lunch, guided swims.
Price Exclusions: Travel to Kas, dinners, x1 lunch, soft drinks, alcoholic drinks & room supplements.
Sea View Room: £95.
Sole Use Supplement: £220.

CARBON REDUCTION
We have designed our trip operations carefully to minimize our impact on our environment. By its very nature, exploring the world via swimming – “human powered”, means our guests are not using unnecessary motorized vehicles to enjoy their holiday destination. We try to keep our transfer times as short as possible, ensuring guests spend less time travelling and more time swimming on their swim vacation. All our trips are sold without flights so travellers have the option to use more environmentally friendly means of travel if they wish. We share all guest arrival times so that collective transfers can be arranged.

Vegetarian & Vegan food is available daily from both our hotel and the local restaurants that we choose to visit in the evenings. The hotel uses fresh local ingredients from the local fishermen and farms to create delicious Greek meals with plenty of olives from the groves on the island.

Our partner hotel in Kas, are committed to reducing Carbon and carry out the following measures within their hotel: Recyclable materials are separated, the change period of hotel bed linen, towels and sheets to limited to 3 days to reduce water consumption, completely organic solid hand soaps are used in the rooms and all other common areas, -A system is used to cut off the electrical energy after our guests leave the room, energy efficient bulbs are used in 75% of their lighting systems. Additionally the hotel has solar panels and some of the hot water needs are provided from these panels reducing electricity consumption.

ENVIRONMENT & WILDLIFE
As swimmers, we are passionate about the environment and taking measures to protect both the oceans and lands including all local wildlife.. Our hotel in Kas is committed to controlling the amount of water, electricity, energy, chemicals, solid waste to minimize the damage to the environment and natural resources. Additionally, the hotel partner with local animal shelters to provide old sunbed cushions, towels and sheets for use as bedding.

We continue to be reminded of the problem of plastic in our oceans. As such, we are committed to helping reduce to amount of plastic we use on our trips. We do this by:
• Encouraging guests to bring their own reusable water bottle on tour, or purchasing one of our non-plastic reusable alternatives
• Running regular guide plastic clean up sessions in our locations
• Using locally grown produce and home-cooked food wherever available to reduce the amount of plastic food packaging bought
