Red panda & rhino wildlife tour in India
Description of Red panda & rhino wildlife tour in India
Our red panda and rhino wildlife tour travels from the floodplains of Assam to the mountain forests of West Bengal, searching for two of India’s rarest animals.
The adventure begins in Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO-listed stronghold for one-horned rhinos. Jeep safaris roll through tall grass, wetlands and riverine woodland on the lookout for a rhino-shaped rustle. You can also see elephants, water buffalos, leopards, sloth bears, swamp deer, hoolock gibbons and a flurry of birdlife – a reminder of why protecting these connected habitats matters.
The search for red pandas is up next as the expedition heads east, to the high-altitude forests of Singalila National Park. Local specialists guide you along trails, looking for the trees, bamboo thickets and quiet corners that these endangered “firefoxes” love. Sightings are never guaranteed, which is exactly what makes spotting them so special – but travelling with our experienced naturalists give you the best chance.
Finally, it’s on to the hill town of Darjeeling. Relax at a tea estate with views of the Kanchenjunga range, or take your pick of activities like bird watching, toy train rides, monastery visits and spa treatments.

People
Conservation is not possible without the inclusion of local communities. On this tour we only work with accommodation providers who work closely with the local communities. More than 80% of the staff who work at the properties are local benefiting from the tourism. Manebhajen is a perfect example of how mostly private initiative have worked well to conserve keystone species like the Red Panda. This whole area is not protected and because of private entrepreneurship, the Red Panda is being protected, private lodges, especially the lodge that we stay at have advocated Red Panda. In Kaziranga and Infinity Resort, the resort are also responsible in doing very similar practices. In Darjeeling as well, the lodges are having close contact with the locals, employing the locals. They work closely with the forest department for training purposes and spend CSR activities in the local areas for education and conservation. The lodges have adopted local village schools and educate the kids on the importance of wildlife and conservation.Popular similar holidays
