Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

Planet

1. We strive to decrease the carbon impact on nature in remote areas and use alternative transportation where applicable. The Tatev Monastery is located 26 km from Halidzor Village; there are two options to reach the monastery: by car or by an aerial tramway.
2. We chose an ecologically clean aerial tramway, providing an excellent ride to travelers and decreasing car usage.
3. We encourage our travelers to use reusable glass bottles, as Armenia and Eastern Turkey are gems for clean and mountain drinking water. This helps us decrease plastic usage.
4. We do not provide printed itineraries, vouchers, or invoices, thus avoiding paper usage and encouraging the use of electronic documents.
5. Wherever possible, we conduct walking tours in Yerevan, Gyumri, Kars, and Ani to cut car usage and minimize carbon footprints in the countries.
6. In the capital cities, we choose centrally located hotels, thus to encourage our travelers public transportation and metro usage.

People

1. When designing our itineraries, we partner with hotels owned by local communities or those that support social initiatives aimed at improving regional livelihoods.
2. On this tour, we visit a local cheese farm that sources milk from rural families and employs community members in their cheese tasting room. This initiative not only provides job opportunities but also encourages the learning of foreign languages and fosters cultural exchange making a better life in the regions and enforcing them to think deeper on the education of kids in the families.
3. The Berlin Art Hotel is another example of a social initiative we support. It not only finances a nearby hospital but also provides a showroom for local painters, allowing them to exhibit and sell their artwork to travelers.
4. In the Vayots Dzor region of Armenia, we visit a winery located in the heart of the country’s winemaking region. The winemakers purchase grapes from rural communities and hire local workers, offering them income opportunities while preserving and sharing Armenia’s rich winemaking heritage with visitors.
