Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

Planet

CARBON REDUCTION

Our 16-day trek in Nepal is designed to minimize its carbon footprint while supporting conservation efforts and local wildlife.

This trip primarily utilizes ground transportation, significantly reducing carbon emissions compared to internal flights. The journey from Kathmandu to Bhulbhule and Pokhara is by bus, which effectively cuts down CO2 per person. Moreover, the trek itself spans 13 days where participants rely solely on human-powered transport, such as walking, through stunning landscapes, making the majority of the trip virtually carbon-free.

ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE

The accommodations chosen for this trek are locally owned guesthouses and lodges. These guesthouses promote the reduction of plastic usage and recycling by offering water refilling stations to cut down on plastic bottle waste.

Our journey takes you through the Annapurna Conservation Area, where entry fees directly support biodiversity conservation, rewilding projects, and sustainable tourism initiatives. Contributing to the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) helps maintain the area's delicate ecosystem and supports ongoing conservation efforts. As part of our commitment to environmental responsibility, trekkers are provided with guidelines on minimizing their impact on nature, such as using refillable water bottles and sticking to designated trails to prevent soil erosion.

People

LOCAL ECONOMY

We believe travel should benefit local communities, and our Nepal trek is a testament to this ethos. By choosing locally owned guesthouses and lodges, we ensure that the economic benefits of your trip stay within the community, directly supporting the livelihoods of the local people.

Our trek employs local guides and porters, who bring invaluable knowledge and experience to the journey. By hiring nearly 100% local staff, often from the communities along the trekking route, we create economic opportunities and foster cultural exchange. We also collaborate with local cooperatives, visiting markets and villages where you can buy handicrafts made by women and marginalized groups.

EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY

Fair employment practices are at the heart of our operations. We are dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusivity within our workforce, offering equal employment opportunities regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, or nationality.

By choosing this trek, you contribute to a more sustainable and equitable form of travel. Your journey will not only minimize carbon emissions but also support vital conservation efforts and help local communities thrive. Together, we can make travel a force for good.
