Description of Bangkok to Chumphon Islands tour, 3 days
Spend the night on Koh Kye, an uninhabited and remote island in the Chumphon Islands, known for its white sand dune made of dead coral, with this three-day small group tour. You’ll meet your fellow adventurers in Bangkok, and get to know each other on the overnight train (second class, air conditioned), arriving in Chumphon with the sunrise. Your local guide will meet you there, and take you to a resort where you can freshen up and drop off your bags.
Next stop, a fishing village where you’ll collect your equipment, including tents, head torches and sleeping bags, pick up supplies like snacks and drinks, and hop into a traditional longtail boat that will ferry you across to Koh Kye. Tonight, you’ll be camping on the beach under the stars. But before you hit the hay, you can swim and snorkel in these warm, clear waters, and enjoy a beach barbecue with fresh-caught seafood and locally sourced vegetables. Before departure, your guide will give you some useful tips on minimising damage to the coral, and the fragile natural environment on Koh Kye.
The next morning, after breakfast, you’ll be collected again and make your way back to Chumphon from where you can easily carry on to Koh Tao, Koh Samui or Koh Phangan, perhaps with a few new friends along for the ride. This Bangkok to Chumphon Islands tour is available all year-round. Most people fly down, but you’ll take the train for a lower carbon and more relaxed alternative.
