CARBON REDUCTION:
• All camps use solar power as the main power source with generators as a backup if needed. Currently, 76% of all energy at the camps is solar, with an aim to improve this to 95% by 2030.
• The camps use carbon offsetting programmes that are REDD+ and CBB Gold standard under Verra, to ensure there is maximum benefit to biodiversity and local communities.
• This itinerary caters to both vegans and vegetarians.
• Camps source local and seasonal ingredients for meals as much as possible, with menus tailored to the availability of quality ingredients.

ENVIRONMENT & WILDLIFE:
• National Park fees are included in this itinerary, all of which are utilised to maintain the upkeep of parks and support conservation efforts.
• As previously mentioned, camps used solar power for around 76% of their power.
• Guests are provided with refillable water bottles on arrival, and camps have eliminated single-use plastic where possible.
• Guests contribute 10USD per night towards Asilia Africa’s Travel With Purpose fund, which supports a wide range of conservation projects in Tanzania. These include foundations that aim to work with communities to educate people on the benefits of conservation, minimising human-wildlife conflict, and encouraging the protection of habitats to ensure sustainable use.

People

LOCAL ECONOMY:
• The camps and our local supplier are African-owned, and a proportion of the income generated is reinvested into underfunded reserves and parks.
• The guides at all camps are Tanzanian, as is a large majority of employees at camps. Both our local supplier and their camps are dedicated to encouraging local employment and supporting women in employment in Tanzania.
• During your trip, there is the opportunity to visit a local community, with the funds from this directly supporting the community.
• Curio shops in each camp support local artisans, with an array of items made by the immediate and wider Tanzanian community.


EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY & DIVERSITY:
• Guests contribute 10USD per night towards Asilia Africa’s Travel With Purpose fund which supports a range of community projects in Tanzania, including their Twende Porini initiative, which welcomes children from local communities into camps to experience wildlife safaris, learning about both wildlife in a non-threatening situation and the benefits tourism can have on the community.
• A portion of the money raised is also used towards a tourism training school to support employment in the area.
• Both us and our local supplier pay all staff members above the minimum living wage.
