Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

Planet

CARBON REDUCTION

Like us, our partners on the ground care deeply about how we travel. With their support, every itinerary we design involves local communities, features boutique accommodations and employs expert guides. This ensures we can minimise impact, support local economies and contribute positively to the destinations we visit.

Throughout the itinerary, where possible we include overland buses, shared transfers and small group tours to reduce fuel emissions and avoid overcrowding, while creating itineraries that maximise time on the ground and limit unnecessary flights.

ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE

The hotels we feature in this itinerary have been chosen because they either are taking meaningful steps toward sustainability or are leading the way in positive impact.

- Palo Santo Hotel is Argentina’s first urban green hotel in Argentina. Adorned with more than 800 thriving plants, not only does it look aesthetically pleasing but it also provides the building with natural insulation and absorbs CO2 emissions. All the hotel operations follow environmentally friendly practices.

- Hotel Cabana del Lago and Weskar lodge, both hold Chile’s prestigious S Seal for Sustainability, which is recognised internationally by the Global sustainable Tourism council.

- EcoCamp has an award-winning reputation for its eco-friendly policies, innovative use of green technology and deep engagement with local communities.

LOCAL ECONOMY

As part of our commitment to the local communities, we also avoid any international chain hotels, prioritising independent local owner-run properties where possible. This keeps more money in the immediate area and helps provides business and employment opportunities to local people, whilst providing us and our guests with a more genuine and enriching stay. For example, EcoCamp works closely with the local community, sourcing fresh local produce for its kitchen, employing local staff, and supporting artisans by purchasing handicrafts to decorate the camp and sell in the store, directly benefiting the local community.

Most hotels are in walking distance to town enabling our guests to visit small local restaurants and get out into the local community.

EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY

As mentioned, we work exclusively with partners who hold the same commitment to sustainability and social development, and treat local communities as partners.

Our guides are certified local experts, properly trained, fairly compensated, and passionate about their region.
