This trekking itinerary traverses the core zone of the "Three Parallel Rivers of Yunnan Protected Areas," a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its fragile alpine biodiversity. To protect this pristine Himalayan ecosystem, we strictly adhere to a rigorous "Leave No Trace" policy.

Waste Management & Plastics: We operate a strict "pack it in, pack it out" system. Our support team ensures that absolutely no waste is left behind at our campsites in Nanzhu and Bengge Ding pastures. All non-biodegradable trash is carried out by our horse caravan to the nearest town for proper disposal. Furthermore, to combat the global issue of single-use plastics, we provide every traveler with a complimentary, reusable eco-cutlery set upon arrival. We also utilize large refillable water containers at camp instead of small plastic bottles, significantly reducing plastic waste.

Low Carbon Footprint: We have consciously designed this itinerary to minimize carbon emissions. Instead of relying solely on private vehicles or internal flights for the long journey between Kunming and Lijiang, we utilize China's modern high-speed electric trains. This significantly lowers the carbon footprint per passenger compared to driving the entire distance, ensuring our journey is as green as the forests we explore.

Our journey is designed to bring direct economic benefits to the indigenous communities of the Hengduan Mountains while fostering deep cross-cultural respect.

Local Economy & Fair Employment: This trek is operationally supported entirely by the local community. Unlike tours that bring in outside staff, we exclusively partner with local Khampa horsemen to transport our camping gear and supplies. This provides a crucial and sustainable source of income for these families, allowing them to maintain their traditional semi-nomadic lifestyle rather than being forced into urban migration. We also refuse to participate in commission-based shopping stops; instead, we encourage visits to authentic local markets, such as the Dounan Flower Market, ensuring that your spending goes directly into the pockets of local farmers and artisans.


Cultural Preservation & Respect: The route we trek is part of the sacred "Kawagarbo Kora" (pilgrimage). We view ourselves not just as hikers, but as guests on holy ground. Our guides, who hold professional certifications, also act as cultural interpreters. They educate all guests on Tibetan Buddhist taboos and etiquette—such as walking clockwise around mani stones and stupas—ensuring that our presence honors the spiritual significance of the mountain. By respecting these traditions, we help preserve the intangible heritage that makes this region so unique.
