CARBON REDUCTION

Icelandic tourism is a high-carbon emitting industry. Iceland itself has one of the highest carbon emission rates per capita in the world. This trip, however, reduces your carbon footprint to an absolute minimum and introduces a mindful approach to tourism in Iceland that will hopefully have an impact over time. Hiking is both the most enjoyable and sustainable way to experience Icelandic nature, as it lowers your carbon footprint significantly.

Hiking encourages a simpler style of travel: carrying limited belongings, spending time in nature, and focusing on experiences rather than high-consumption entertainment. We encourage our hikers to support local rural communities. The choice of food wil be your own, so here we highly urge you to choose well and consider buying locally produced foods when possible. Our guide will show you towards local products whenever possible buying regional food. Tenting on natural campsites also can create more sustainable tourism economies.

ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE:

Our trip operates within the Leave No Trace policy. This means that we do not disturb any natural habitats or wild animals on our journey. We bring our trash with us and never dispose of anything in nature. We do not take any natural items, rocks, or plants with us. We do not disturb any natural habitats unnecessary. We respect Wildlife. And we respect other people and groups that we might meet.


Earth Care is at the heart of why we hike. Spending time walking through forests, mountains, and remote landscapes can foster a deeper sense of connection with the natural world. We hope our journeys inspire participants to develop a stronger awareness of environmental stewardship and a greater sense of responsibility toward our shared planet. By moving slowly through nature and experiencing its beauty directly, we believe people naturally become more motivated to protect and care for it long after the trip has ended.

Through our sharing pods and group practices, we encourage openness, connection, and emotional well-being throughout the journey. Fair Share means taking only what we truly need and ensuring that resources, opportunities, and benefits are distributed fairly. We are committed to responsible tourism practices and to creating a positive impact in the places we visit. Our guides are paid fairly — above the local guiding standard — because we view them not simply as service providers, but as creative leaders, storytellers, and essential contributors to the experience. We also encourage mindful consumption during our trips and strive to minimize unnecessary waste.
