Along the valley of the country’s longest river lies a rich seam of spectacular castles and pretty, historic towns.
Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.
Planet
CARBON REDUCTIONWe are committed to offering low-impact holidays, which benefit the countries and communities we visit, as well as our travellers and the natural environment. We believe in the transformative power of travel and aim to minimise our ecological footprint by selecting eco-friendly accommodations, encouraging waste reduction, and supporting sustainable transportation options where possible.
Exploring the Loire Valley on foot is one of the most environmentally friendly ways to travel. Most of your journey is completed under your own steam, significantly reducing carbon emissions compared with vehicle-based sightseeing. Only occasional transfers are used to access the start of selected walks, helping to keep transport to a minimum while allowing you to explore a wider area.
ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE
We operate a ‘leave no trace’ policy in national parks, archaeological sites, monuments, and other sensitive areas like beaches and coastlines; these should be treated with the ultimate respect to maintain them for future generations. Our tour leaders are trained to promote this message to our customers during the holiday.
Following established footpaths and trails helps preserve the natural environment, and walking at a slower pace encourages a deeper connection with the surrounding landscape, allowing you to appreciate the region's rivers, woodlands, wildlife, and heritage while minimising your impact on the environment. By choosing to walk, you're enjoying a lower-carbon holiday that supports sustainable tourism and helps protect the Loire Valley for future visitors.
People
LOCAL ECONOMYWe provide ample opportunities to explore the local area on foot, where you can shop for local wares and crafts and immerse yourselves in the destination's cultural heritage. To enhance your experience, your tour leader will be joined by a knowledgeable, well-qualified local guide for the duration of the trip. Along the way, you'll explore local markets, cafés, vineyards, and family-run restaurants, helping to support the local economy.
The holiday includes daily breakfast at the hotel and five dinners at carefully selected local restaurants. Lunches are not included, giving you the flexibility to enjoy a picnic or dine at a local café and support local businesses. Two evenings are left free for you to explore the region's excellent restaurants at your own pace. Please note that some restaurants serve a set menu for groups, with alternative dishes available for vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free guests. To help us accommodate your needs, please ensure any dietary requirements are shared with us as early as possible.
EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY & DIVERSITY
We are committed to responsible and sustainable travel practices that support both the local environment and surrounding communities. By selecting environmentally conscious accommodation, encouraging reduced waste, and prioritising sustainable transport where possible, we aim to minimise our footprint. Through respectful engagement and conscious travel choices, we strive to protect natural landscapes while delivering enriching and memorable experiences.
