Planet
CARBON REDUCTIONWe are honest that international flights represent the largest single source of emissions for travellers on this trip, and we do not offset or greenwash this. What we can control, we take seriously. Every adventure is an overland journey where there are no internal flights within the itinerary, and this loop starts and ends in Siem Reap, so there's no one-way transfer logistics adding extra mileage either.
Tuk-Tuks are small-engine, three-wheeled vehicles that consume significantly less fuel per journey than the diesel coaches or minibuses typically used to move travellers around Cambodia. They are not electric, but they are considerably more efficient than the alternatives. Because this is a private adventure booked by a single team or small group rather than a fixed departure, there's no large convoy, keeping the logistical footprint as light as the trip itself.
ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE
The route passes into the Tonle Sap Lake floating communities, part of a UNESCO-designated biosphere reserve and one of the most productive freshwater ecosystems in the world. Visiting respectfully and in small numbers matters here, and we brief every traveller on appropriate behaviour before entering these communities.
We do not include elephant riding, animal performances, captive wildlife handling, or any attraction where wild animals are kept for visitor entertainment. All wildlife encounters on this trip are in the wild, at appropriate distance.
Entry fees for the Angkor Wat temple complex contribute directly to the conservation and upkeep of this UNESCO World Heritage site.
We partner with Travelers Against Plastic (TAP) and we communicate to all participants to take reusable water bottles. We provide all travellers with reusable cloth bags for shopping etc. We do not print materials unless absolutely necessary. Single-use plastic is actively discouraged throughout the trip. All travellers receive pre-departure information on reducing their environmental impact during the journey.
People
LOCAL ECONOMYAccommodation on this route is a deliberate mix of hand-picked 4-star hotels and family-run homestays in traditional Khmer villages, putting a meaningful share of what you spend directly into local hands rather than a hotel chain. The daily challenge format, cultural quests, culinary missions and off-the-beaten-path photo hunts, is built to route guests into local homes, family kitchens and village life rather than past it. Up to 5% of profit from each departure is directed to vetted community and conservation partners, with transparent reporting to travellers on how it is used.
EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY
All in-country staff such as mechanics, support crew and ground contacts are Cambodian nationals employed from local communities. All travellers receive a pre-departure cultural briefing covering appropriate behaviour and dress in temples and villages, photography guidelines (particularly around the floating communities and any local homes you're invited into), and a non-negotiable no drink-driving rule.
This trip is LGBTQ+ friendly. We do not discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity in any aspect of our operations or guest experience.
