What do you want from a family holiday? Fun in the sunshine? Keeping the kids active from morning ‘til night? Learning about new cultures and ways of life? A host of memorable moments to talk about around the dinner table for months afterwards? Morocco has it all.
Your Morocco family adventure holiday gets underway in Marrakech. On arrival you’ll meet the rest of the small group who will be your travel companions for the week, and your local tour leader, who will keep you entertained and informed while showing you around. Then it’s off – off into the Atlas Mountains, the highest in North Africa. From the village of Anmiter you’ll continue on foot to a remote house where a warm welcome awaits.
The next couple of days will be spent exploring some enthralling historic locations. The ancient kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou was once a vital stop along 16th century trading routes, and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Meanwhile Ouarzazate, which you’ll reach by a short (20km) cycle ride, is known as ‘the Doorway to the Desert’. The town, sandwiched between the mountains and the Sahara Desert, has been used for myriad film productions, including Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia. Venturing on into the Draa Valley, you’ll stay overnight in a kasbah-style property with a swimming pool.
Now for a taste of desert life, as you mount camels and trek out into the dunes. Responsible tour operators ensure that the camels they use are well cared for, and not exploited. Your destination? A desert camp deep in the dunes. Here you’ll be welcomed with a hearty Berber feast, and an introduction to bread making, before you bed down under the stars. It’s a certain highlight of any family holiday here.
Before returning to Marrakech, your guide will take you for a visit to the 17th century zaouia in Tamegroute, once a holy centre of learning and a base for the Naciri Brotherhood. Here you’ll also be invited to tour a local potters’ cooperative, to watch these skilled artisans at work and perhaps pick up a few unique souvenirs. Visits such as this ensure that your trip has an economic benefit to the communities you pass through.
On reaching Marrakech, you’ll say goodbye to the rest of the group and your guide – but not before taking a tour of this lively city. The souks, especially, are exhilarating to wander. The perfect way to bring your trip to an end, before returning home or continuing on to make more Moroccan memories.

We’re members of UK travel industry bodies Tourism Concern and AITO because we believe it’s important to share our knowledge and experience, as well as learn from other operators.
As a company we support Cool Earth. Protecting rainforest is one of the most effective actions to tackle climate breakdown. Cool Earth work with indigenous communities empowering them to conserve their forest; keeping CO2 locked in.
People
It is our policy to generate business and employment opportunities in the countries we travel to by employing local people. Furthermore they can give a real insight into the local culture; anything from learning about the education system, to making sure we don’t fall foul of any taboos.As well as respecting local people, we also like to be an economic benefit to them. We do this by using locally owned hotels, spreading our business to a variety of local restaurants (which is a great way to sample delicious Moroccan food!) We like to support local development though business but there are always some who are out of reach of the tourist pound and where we can, we like to extend some support to them.
This tour travels through Asni where we are supporting 3 girls through high school. Girls from the High Atlas villages often don’t have access to secondary education as the schools are too far away but thanks to Education for All and our support, 16 girls now have the opportunity to continue their studies.
