Explore the beautiful countryside of Normandy and Brittany for five days, pedalling up to Mont Saint Michel along quiet routes, on this self guided cycling tour.
The tour begins in Saint-Malo, a handsome walled port city, and then leads you through pleasant countryside, dotted with plenty of places to eat and relax. As you follow the coast, you’ll pass small harbours, cafés and restaurants serving freshly caught fish and fantastic seafood. As this tour is self guided, you’re free to stop off to enjoy a meal, go for a swim or simply appreciate the picturesque countryside of Brittany and Normandy.
The dramatic island of Mont Saint Michel is the most famous highlight of this tour. Its abbey crowns this rocky outcrop, sitting in a beautiful bay, and rises above layers of stone buildings and fortifications. You can see the abbey’s spire from some distance away, as you cycle through flat farmland and salt meadows on routes where traffic is restricted, towards this celebrated sight.
This cycling tour is designed to be leisurely, with minimal mileage so you have plenty of time to explore and enjoy all the sights along the route, getting a real feel for rural life in this pretty part of France. All your luggage is transferred for you, making cycling even more enjoyable.
If you prefer to shorten the tour, you can end it on Day 4, staying overnight in Mont Saint Michel on Day 3 and departing the next day. Just ask us about the price for this abbreviated version. You can also choose the standard of hotel you prefer. Again, ask about the prices for the two different options available.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Arrival and meeting Ingrid. She took away so many anxieties related to electric bikes which were wonderful.
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Use the app. Ingrid will help you install it and explain how it works if you are an older technophobe like me.
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Of course locals benefitted from us spending in France. As we were on bikes i guess that helped but we were charging batteries.
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
So many things could have gone wrong but nothing did. Hotels were perfect for us (once we had corrected the double bed request to twin beds - an email not followed up by the host company but corrected by Ingrid), luggage transfers all worked although early pick up time of 9am and the bikes and app worked really well for us along lovely rural routes which were quite varied. A bit confusing how the 3 different contacts we dealt with interacted from my point of view. Bit cold and cloudy but at least it didnt rain!!

In cities, we recommend clients to use public transportations, or to walk or bike. City bike rentals are more and more widely available in big and medium-sized cities across Europe they are the best way to get around congested cities.
