    Memorable parts? The large pond/small lake was perfect. Our children spent most of their waking time in the water, on the paddle board, in the boat or on the island. Some of us adults joined them ... but at the end of October, with no wetsuits, we mainly left it to them! It was heaven. We were able to sit nearby and talk, clutch hot drinks and laugh and take photos, without spoiling their fun. And all the while knowing there was a cosy house with woodburner lit, just a minute away.     Memorable parts? The level of hospitality we received matched the jaw-dropping scenery. Management and staff are care-takers in the truest sense of the word. Tips? Book in advance. A beautiful destination for long walks in the bucolic countryside and along the dramatic coast of Southern England. Local benefits? Yes.     Memorable parts? The most memorable was the lack of excitement!! What we wanted was peace quiet and lovely countryside and we got it in buckets. Tips? Take all your strain and stresess and they will fully blow away by the fantastic place, the shepherds hut. Bring a healthy appetite. You are going to need it for the lovely pub lunches. On a practical side an ordnance survey map, walking shoes and a camera and all the clothes you would need for the British weather. Other than that,... (more)David Green
