Our solo walking holidays

Our solo walking holidays are about convenience and companionship. Convenience because you'll join a small group with an expert tour leader to show the way and ensure everything goes smoothly. And companionship, because on our walking holidays for singles you'll always have someone to share a friendly chat with on the trail. These holidays are organised by people with vast experience. They know what works and what doesn’t, and have the connections to add in little moments along the way – from visits to shepherds in their mountain pastures to overnight stays with nomadic communities – that make your trip all the more memorable.

Highlights of our solo walking holidays

Benefits of a small group tour

There are many benefits to joining a small group for your solo walking holiday. For one thing, all of the logistics are taken care of, from accommodation to luggage transfers, so that you can simply enjoy the walk. And if you’re considering a ‘big experience’ like walking the Great Wall or the Inca Trail, having it all organised for you is invaluable.

You’ll be in great company, too. Our solo walking holidays are reliably sociable. You’ll always have a companion to chat to on the trail, and you get a great mix of people from all sorts of backgrounds. Being part of a group gives you peace of mind, especially if you’re new to solo travel, or heading to a remote area. Key to that is the quality of your guide, usually a local, who will be immensely knowledgeable not only about the route you’re taking, but about the flora and fauna of the region, local history and cultural traditions, and a dozen other subjects too.

Where to go on a solo walking holiday

Virtually nowhere is off-limits for our solo walking holidays, from desert sands to mountain peaks, snowbound valleys to sunbaked islands. Some take you to far-off places where you might not feel as confident about walking on your own, while others tackle challenges where the motivational element that comes from being in a group can be a major plus, like the Annapurna Base Camp Trek in Nepal and the Snowman Trek in Bhutan.

Solo walking holidays can also be as much about cultural immersion as they are about the walk itself. Think homestays and local festivals in Ladakh, or walking with Berber tribespeople in Morocco’s Atlas Mountains. And some trips may be closer to home, but have a unique twist, such as learning Spanish while you walk in Spain’s Picos de Europa, or combining your walking with sailing in the Greek Islands. One thing is for sure: since the rest of your group will be keen walkers too, you’ll return home with plenty of inspiration for your next trip.
