The people of rural Nepal... and their environment. They live hard lives - in a magnificent setting.
Tips?
Make sure you are fit, fit, fit.

Memorable parts?
Waking up before sunrise and getting the amazing mountain views!
Tips?
Spend sometime on the stair-master before you go. There are lots of stair to climb but the climb is well worth the views you get!
Local benefits?
Absolutely. Pema, my guide, and I picked up trash along the trail as we went. I saw a lot of the tea houses converted to supplying clean water instead of plastic
bottles.

Memorable parts?
It is hard to decide on one thing that was the 'most memorable' - We loved the entire trip! What stood out for us was Ngima and Lakpa's unwavering commitment to our entire team having the best experience we could possibly have. We listened to endless stories about the mountains, the place and other travel groups. We had all our curious questions answered. We stayed in nice and comfortable tea houses each night, with great hospitality where our guide was friends with everyone.... (more)Jennifer Ziegner
Memorable parts?
The Roykans and the scenery were amazing. Beautiful walk.
Tips?
Probably book with another operator. The information on the walk was totally inadequate. If we had not photographed the walk instructions from some people we met who were booked with another company we would have been totally lost on the last day. The major part of the last day walk has no sign posts for Nakasendo Way and we were provided with no map or instructions apart from a couple of lines. We might... (more)Trevor Marriott
Memorable parts?
Every day was so different, but the first day trekking in Torres del Paine to the base of the towers was a great first day. You really do get 4 seasons in one day,
we had sunshine and snow! Our tour guide Tomas really made the whole trip amazing, his passion for Patagonia and trekking, his knowledge and general
banter (he really doesn't stop talking!) made the trip really memorable. We also had fantastic trekking guides for the 4 days in Torres del Paine.
Tips?

Even the tipping ceremony was wonderful, but the last day of the trek was probably the best. Beautiful surroundings and walking easily down hill with new friends knowing that Kilimanjaro had been achieved. (more)Marleen James
The entire trip was truly a once in a lifetime adventure - every day was exciting... Fantastic!

Definitely reaching Lenana Point, the summit for our trip
Tips?
Go now. It's a really good trip. We had a nice group of very different personalities but we worked really well together.
Local benefits?
I believe our trip benefitted the support staff in terms of employment, I think we were very diligent and many times saw our staff picking up litter around the route.

Reaching the Summit of Dome Des Ecrins at 08:40 on the Sunday morning after leaving the refuge at 04:00am!
Overall the experience was great, certainly recommend Bernard's excellent skills at both guiding and pushing you to reach above your goals
Tips?
Good boots that you know are essential, you'll be working them hard over different terrain, with and without crampons.
Stuff to eat while you're on the move or balanced on a snow-field - ideally softer the better - makes... (more)Rebecca Belton

Hike around Tre Cime - magnificent scenery.
Tips?
Make sure you're fit for sustained mountain walking and have proper hiking footwear with good grip.
Local benefits?
Stayed in family-run hotel and used local transportation companies.
Overall rating?
The hiking and companionship of the operator group was first class; not so keen on the hotel or its catering (more)Anne Frigon
Memorable parts?
I hate this question! The whole week was wonderful, and when the group was asked which walk they had enjoyed the most, everyone had the same trouble picking one! This was a walking trip geared towards fit experienced mountain walkers (warning for anyone thinking it is easy hiking in these Bulgarian mountains, read the blurb with care!), so the days were hard with steep climbs and long descents. The rewards were huge, amazing views, great biodiversity and a country that values... (more)Olive O
Memorable parts?
Reaching the summit of Mt Toubkal after leaving the base camp in the dark. By the top the sun was shining, the sky was blue with the snow glistening. The views and sense of achievement made the hard climb well worth it!
Tips?
If doing it in winter has a thermal tube for your water bladder as the tube freezes!
Local benefits?
We used local porters and mule riders and bought things from local co-operative shops so helped the community.

There were many memorable moments which included extraordinary vistas such as the glacier melting into streams and then the lake, challenging hikes in
high altitudes, interesting meetings with local minority people, learning about different religions, customs and beliefs of the people.

Climbing Mount Vidran, the wildflowers in the Pirin and Rila Mountains, city tour of Sofia. Evening strolls in the village Govedartsi to soak up the atmosphere. Watching the cows being herded each evening into the village. Friendly Bulgarians. Good Bulgarian food and wine.
Tips?
Don't underestimate the fitness needed for the walks. Previous holidays, walks have been easier than grading suggested. Not here the grading is more accurate so the strenuous walks are... (more)Mike Wilkinson
The whole trip was wonderful. I was passionate about wanting to climb Mount Kilimanjaro and got 2 friends to agree and with the added incentive of raising money for a charity...Just do it! It is an experience and if you like trekking it is absolutely fantastic....would love to do it again. (more)Chetana Parmar
