Description of Peneda Geres self catering house in Northern Portugal

This beautiful self catering house in northern Portugal lies in the Peneda Geres National Park. The house belongs to Lamosa Farm and is surrounded by mountains, forests and the rivers Vez and Azere. This is a very tranquil spot, little changed in years. It’s easy to relax here, but if you prefer to be active, there is great hiking, horse riding and cycling nearby, with refreshing lagoons to cool off in afterwards. There are hiking trails suitable for families and a lovely stream for children to play in. You can also sign up for a course of kayaking or cooking or a cycling tour.

This region is rich in history, as well as natural beauty, with lots of pretty villages dotted throughout. Visit Arcos de Valdevez, where the famous battle of Valdevez was fought in 1141 between Afonso Henriques, the first King of Portugal and is cousin Alfonso VII of Castile and Leon (in Spain). History, culture, active adventures and wonderful landscapes all combine in this part of northern Portugal.
