In addition, we work with accommodations that are positively impacting the planet; for example, Refugio Amazonas and Tambopata Research Center are owned by the accredited Rainforest Expeditions company, which is expanding research and conservation into the area. They have been doing this since 1989, and they aim to introduce guests to the rainforest sustainably.

In wildlife conservation areas we select lodges committed to conserving and supporting the environment and passionate about sustainability.
One of the accommodations options, Refugio Amazonas focuses on conservation efforts and is owned by the accredited Rainforest Expeditions company which has been expanding conservation since 1989. By staying at Refugio Amazonas, any income from a visit here is shared with neighbouring communities, farms and local artisans. Nature is the main passion of Rainforest Expeditions, creating these authentic sanctuaries to introduce guests to the environment sustainably and increase the benefits of positive tourism.

LOCAL ECONOMY:
We aim to promote small owner-run businesses that support and give back to the local community.
For example, Las Qolqas is fully invested in making the surrounding area a better place, they created the ‘Asociacion Civil Las Qolqas’ NGO. This organisation prioritises children’s education, family healthcare, environmental protection and the preservation of Peru’s cultural heritage. Las Qolqas also promote day trips, off the traditional tourist route, for these day days we employ local guides from the local community.


EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY:
Within this itinerary, all local guides are employed locally and are paid fair salaries. It is very important to ensure that the lodges employ local guides, not only does this provide a more authentic experience but also provides local income to go back into the local community. The Rainforest Expeditions Company which owns Refugio Amazonas and Tambopata Research Centre, are passionate about working with the community and an effort is made to always buy local products and materials from the Local Community.
