Planet

ENVIRONMENT & WILDLIFE
The conservation of landscape in its natural state, the protection of endemic species, the avoidance of traumatic contact with local fauna and species and the protection of the ecosystems of our navigational areas have been and will always be a permanent concern of our company. We aim to avoid any unnecessary pollution during our visits to our natural and untouched environments.

Our ships cruise from local ports and harbours thus reducing emissions from our ships and also fuel consumption as we can spend a lot of time in a smaller area. Further more, by cruising locally and spending a lot of time in a small area we are further reducing emissions as we can access the smallest bays and harbours that are inaccessible to larger vessels.

The ship's owners have a permanent interest in innovation and creating new levels of service excellence, and have set up a joint operation with the National Forest Corporation, CONAF, establishing mutual cooperation links for the conservation of the environment and ecosystems, which might be affected by our presence in the area, including the construction of paths with small bridges to reach glaciers that are far from the sea in the Bernardo O’Higgins National Park, and talks and lectures on caring for the environment in which we sail, all of which is aimed at making our presence as environmental friendly as possible.

The entire fleet and its shipboard and o- land staff, and our special collaborators, maintain a special respect for environmental protection. They follow the policies established by the Company in order that our vessels fulfil national and international regulations regarding environmental protection and all that it entails.

ln our permanent interest in innovation and creating new instances of service excellence, we have set up a joint operation with the National Forest Corporation, CONAF, establishing mutual cooperation links for the conservation of the environment and ecosystems, which might be affected by our presence in the area. Specifically, this includes the construction of paths with small bridges to reach glaciers that are far from the sea in the Bernardo O’Higgins National Park.

We also provide talks and lectures on caring for the environment in which we sail, aimed at making our presence as environmental friendly as possible.

Food
Chile produces a wide range of wonderful food, and wine, and the local seafood is as fresh as possible. Vegetarian and vegan diets are well catered for.

The ship has a unique water collection system, in that it collects pure fresh water from a waterfall which is used via the ships water tanks as the ship's main water supply. You won't find any water anywhere that is fresher and easier on the environment.

LOCAL ECONOMY
Our ships are built and run by a family enterprise founded in 1978. Our mission is to turn Chile and Patagonia into a great international tourist destination, by offering a top-level professional tourist cruise service, faithfully conserving the hospitality of the people of Patagonia and giving added value to the service we offer our clients, which is a daily challenge for each and every of our staff members. We aim to assist with the development of tourism in Patagonia, offering professional services to visit our beautiful landscape, investing in the development of the area, always maintaining the balance between nature and service so as to be able to enjoy it without interfering with the environment.

We encourage all our passengers to engage with the local community on a social and economic level to ensure that this tourism has a benefit to both the visitors and the hosts.

We rely heavily on small local businesses for providing local excursions for our passengers, boosting their income.

The ship we use on this trip is crewed, built and maintained by local people and we will buy as much of produce as possible from local communities allowing for the money spent to remain in Chile. We also encourage our passengers to spend money in the communities that we visit. By trying some local fruit juice instead of a well known American brand of soft drink, you will support the economy, it will be better for you and, who knows, you might find you enjoy it more too.

We will encourage our passengers to learn and understand as much as possible about the local traditions and way of life to enable them to appreciate the reality of life in Chile.
