4 out of 5 stars
Reviewed on 19 Feb 2025 by Orit Kapon
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
View points over the Atlantic ocean.
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
The best views start at day 3. Possibly start with day 2 and take one more day in the Algrave area. We also did not follow the exact route and took some trails nearer the ocean.
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Not especially.
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Very good. The administration was superb.
Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.
Planet
On this trip you will cycle through many towns and villages, visit the churches, walk the streets, discover secrets and make conversations. Mountain Bikers havent truly discovered Rota Vicentina yet so the tracks arent over packed, this means that the environment and wildlife is not affected. As well, cycling is a low carbon way of exploring the area and helps keep emissions down.We respect the countryside and advise all our riders to dispose of their rubbish responsibly. We advise our clients not to leave anything other than organic waste behind them on their travels and where possible to use the recycling facilities provided.
We encourage our visitors to use the local markets, buying fresh produce that does not increase the use of packaging, we also provide flasks/water bottles for drinking water whilst travelling to cut down on the use of bottled water.
In our office we attempt to conduct our business paper free, communicating mainly be email with clients, suppliers and partners. Any unused or spoilt paper is recycled as scrap for notes in the office. We dispose of our office waste responsibly in the local recycling bins provided near to the office. We also dispose of any waste ink cartridges or dead batteries in the correct manner.
People
Over the last couple of years we have developed good working relationships with our suppliers and partners. The hotels that we use for our bike holidays are all vetted by the company directors and are welcoming to our cyclists. They help them with storing their bikes overnight and share their local knowledge of the best restaurants and shops to experience, thereby giving the clients the best insider scoop whilst cycling through the Algarve. We also relay to the clients any local knowledge we have gained ourselves, especially with cafes and restaurants along the route, where we know they will receive a warm welcome by the locals and a strong coffee and special cakes to sustain their energy levels! For example, most of the little villages in Rota Vicentina are old fishing villages like Aljezur, Arrifana and Carapateira and serve the catch of the day on the day! On the trip the clients will have the opportunity to experience the local seafood.
We also advise our clients of any local festivals and local traditions that they may come across on their route, always encouraging them to partake!
