Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
Planet
We aim not to destroy the resources - either economic, cultural or natural - on which we depend. By organising cycling holidays, we are helping to keep our travel carbon emissions down. We believe cycling is one of the best ways to explore an area in terms of keeping our environmental impact to a minimum. We respect the countryside and advise all our riders to dispose of their rubbish responsibly. We advise our clients not to leave anything other than organic waste behind them on their travels and where possible to use the recycling facilities provided.
We encourage our visitors to use the local markets, buying fresh produce that does not incur use of packaging, we also provide flasks/water bottles for drinking water whilst travelling to cut down on the use of bottled water.
In our office we attempt to conduct our business paper free, communicating mainly be e mail with clients, suppliers and partners. Any unused or spoilt paper is recycled as scrap for notes in the office. We dispose of our office waste responsibly in the local recycling bins provided near to the office. We also dispose of any waste ink cartridges or dead batteries in the correct manner.
People
Over the last couple of years we have developed good working relationships with our suppliers and partners. The hotels that we stay in during our bike holidays are all vetted by the company directors and are welcoming to our cyclists. They help them with storing their bikes overnight and share their local knowledge with the cyclists, thereby giving the clients the best experience whilst in any particular area of the Algarve. We also relay to the clients any local knowledge we have gained ourselves, especially with cafes and restaurants along the route, where we know they will receive a warm welcome by the locals and a strong coffee and special cakes to sustain their energy levels!
We also advise our clients of any local festivals and local traditions that they may come across on their route, always encouraging them to partake!
Just as importantly we try to advise the clients of any diversions they may need to take in their routes due to roadworks or dangerous situations.
