Reviews
1 Reviews of Sri Lanka family tour
5 out of 5 stars
Reviewed on 03 Nov 2025 by Rebecca Brackley
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Spotting the wildlife. We had several excellent guides who were very knowledgeable and amazing at spotting animals. My 14 year old said the boat trips on the river were his best days. We spotted elephants and crocodiles, as well as many monkeys. On other days we saw Orangutans in the wild as well as a Sun Bear.
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Go for it!
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
It felt like it was giving work to local people. On the river trip we went for lunch at a residents house. The guide in Tabin was born and brought up in the forest.
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Amazing and five stars.
Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.
Planet
We believe in keeping beautiful places beautiful. On this Sri Lanka family itinerary, you’ll stay in small-scale, locally owned hotels and guesthouses that reflect the character of the places you visit, from the Cultural Triangle to the south coast. By choosing independent accommodation over large international chains, more of the benefits of tourism remain in Sri Lanka, while helping to reduce the environmental impact often associated with larger developments. Many of the experiences on this journey encourage a slower, lower-impact way of travelling. Whether you’re exploring ancient sites on foot, travelling through the hill country by train or spending time in Sri Lanka’s national parks, the focus is on connecting with the landscape rather than rushing through it. We also take animal welfare seriously and work with independent experts to help ensure wildlife experiences are responsible, respectful and focused on conservation rather than entertainment.
Before you travel, we share practical guidance on how to be a responsible traveller, including supporting local businesses, reducing waste, avoiding animal exploitation and leaving places as you found them. Back in the UK, our Brighton-based team works from a B-Corp-certified office, operates largely paper-free and partners with Earthly to support nature-based projects that remove carbon, restore biodiversity and improve livelihoods. A small contribution is included in every itinerary, helping protect the landscapes and wildlife that make Sri Lanka so special.
People
We believe in putting people first, and this Sri Lanka family adventure is designed to bring you closer to the people and communities that make the country so special. Throughout the trip, you’ll stay in small-scale, locally owned hotels and guesthouses where tourism income directly supports local families, businesses and employment opportunities.Along the way, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to experience everyday life beyond the main sights. Whether it’s chatting with your hosts, sampling home-style Sri Lankan food, travelling through rural villages or learning about local traditions, these moments offer a more meaningful connection to the places you visit. By encouraging visits to independent restaurants, cafés and shops, more of the money you spend stays within local communities.
We work closely with trusted Sri Lankan partners who are based in-country and play an active role in shaping each itinerary. Their local knowledge helps us create experiences that feel authentic while supporting local livelihoods. Throughout the trip, you’ll also meet knowledgeable local guides who share their perspective on Sri Lankan culture, history and daily life, adding depth to your journey while ensuring tourism benefits the people who call these places home.
