Holiday information
Small group tour:
Small group travel is not large group travel scaled down. It is modelled on independent travel – but with the advantage of a group leader to take care of the itinerary, accommodation and tickets, and dealing with the language. It’s easy to tick off the big sights independently – but finding those one-off experiences, local festivals, travelling markets and secret viewpoints is almost impossible for someone without the insider knowledge gained from years in the field. Those with a two-week holiday, a small group tour will save valuable planning time.
Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
Planet
Other than one 15 minute local train ride, this cycle trip is entirely under your own pedal power, the best sustainable travel methods in this area of France. You could consider taking public transport to the start of your trip. We give useful and detailed information on how to reach the arrival location and leave the departure location using trains.Precious resources are saved, in multiple night stops, by using hotels with policies of reusing towels to reduce pollution and water consumption. In addition our leaders encourage groups not to buy plastic bottles but refill and reuse for the whole journey.
As a travel company we are continually looking for ways to improve and are proud to be ‘Responsible in everything we do’. Education is key, and so all staff, Tour Leaders and partnering suppliers are trained in responsible and sustainable tourism. At our Head Office, we continually strive towards a sustainable and planet-friendly working environment, including having solar panels installed and a company commitment to reducing our plastic usage.
People
One of the great aspects of a cycling holiday is the ability to stop off en route to visit local markets, enjoy a drink in a small café and meet the local people. The French are appreciative when people try to speak their language so why not learn a few phrases before you go?We also choose not to include all meals in the trips, we believe that the best way to get to know a destination is leaving you free to choose where and what you want to eat, chatting with the locals for suggestions and trying things that you may have never heard of instead of having something prepared every single day. This also helps support multiple local business rather than one restaurant or hotel.
As a company we have valuable and longstanding partnerships with UK charities Toilet Twinning and Send a Cow, plus many smaller initiatives and projects around the world. We’re members of UK travel industry bodies Tourism Concern and AITO because we believe it’s important to share our knowledge and experience, as well as learn from other operators.
