We are committed to offering low impact holidays which benefits the countries and communities we visit, as well as our travellers. As most of the time on our tours is spent exploring on foot, it is important that our staff, local partners and customers are aware of the delicate balance which exists in the places we visit.

For all customers who book a Nepal tour, we include a free Water-To-Go carbon filtered water bottle so you can drink the tap water which reduces the risk of getting ill by 85%. This dramatically reduces the number of single use plastic bottles. Guides collect and dispose of all litter and use responsible cooking fuels instead of wood.

We operate a ‘leave no trace’ policy in the national parks, archaeological sites, monuments and other sensitive areas; these should be treated with the ultimate respect to maintain them for future generations. Our guides are trained to promote this message in Nepal.

People

We work with local operators who share our commitment to responsible travel where possible. They take pride in employing and training only locals, to ensure money ends up in the hands of the guiding community.

On this tour we stay in locally owned hotels, guesthouses and teahouse accommodation. We employ Nepalese guides (2 per 1 customer whilst trekking) and transport owned by Nepalese companies whenever possible in Nepal.

Our cap passengers at a maximum of 18 people so as not to impact on the Himalayas’ fragile environment, as we explore primarily on foot. This tour eats in restaurants and use activity providers owned by Nepalese companies. This all brings economic benefit to the local communities we visit.

Each day and evening, we eat in local restaurants including a visit to a Tibetan Refugee camp to immerse ourselves in the art of Momo making. This helps spread tourist dollars to communities further off the main tourist track.

We ensure that our porters in Nepal are equipped with footwear and clothing to cater for the environment in which they are working on. The weight porters carry is carefully weighed, managed and regulated to avoid heavy loads.
