It is safe to drink the water from the tap in England, however, for customers keen to avoid buying single use plastic bottles, we encourage customers to purchase a discounted filter Water-To-Go bottle, which combines three different technologies to remove over 99.9% of all microbiological contaminants in water.

We operate a ‘leave no trace’ policy on tour; our tour leaders are trained to promote this message to customers. The focus of this trip relies primarily on “human powered transport”, meaning plenty of walking - during this particular trip, walks will average 7 miles with 650m of ascent / descent. This is part of our aim to leave as minimal an impact on the areas as possible. This trip actively encourages customers to reduce the carbon footprint to a minimum.

Environment & Wildlife

We encourage our customers to not deviate from designated walking areas, so as not to upset ecosystems irrespective of the size. We also provide encouragement to not to feed birds and the red squirrels that roam the local area as they become reliant on tourists.

Our country house is careful to separate waste for recycling. Much of the food is prepared on-site to reduce the use of single use plastic. Recyclable containers are used for the packed lunches we provide.

We’re committed to running our business responsibly. In our office we reduce, reuse, and recycle whenever possible. It is located within a refurbished mill, and we’ve also installed a waterwheel to generate electricity from the river. It was the first of its kind in Britain, giving us our own sustainable source of power and any excess goes to the National Grid.

Local Economy

Travel independently to the Falcon Manor Hotel in Settle, positioned on the southern edge of town along Duke Street (B6480). Surrounded by breathtaking walking terrain, the area is rich with rolling hills, moorland, limestone pavements, escarpments, wild valleys, and striking geological features. Panoramic views stretch across the Yorkshire Dales towards the ‘Hill of Winds’ and over to Lancashire’s Forest of Bowland. Ample parking is typically available at the hotel for guests arriving by car.

Later that evening, you will meet your tour leader, who will provide a briefing on the three days of planned walks in the Yorkshire Dales. Travel to and from the walking routes will be via the scenic Settle–Carlisle railway, offering a memorable start and end to each day’s adventure.

Your stay is on a half-board basis, with both breakfast and dinner included at the hotel. Each evening, you’ll enjoy a two-course meal, choosing either a starter and main or a main and dessert. Lunch is not included and can be purchased locally each day.
