Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.

Planet

As a tour operator we heavily rely on our accommodation and other service providers to operate in environmentally friendly way. We use the accommodation partners chosen for our guests because they showcase the best of the regions unique features while very conscious that environmental and cultural protection will supports their business success. Commodore on the Park in Mt Gambier has a very low environmental impact and is a great employer of young local staff. They also act as a gallery for local artists with their artwork scattered throughout the restaurant and public areas. Beacon Point ocean View Villas are set high on a hill overlooking the ocean at Skenes Creek. These spacious self contained villas blend perfectly into the forest environment. A testament to this is the amount of wallabies, koalas and native birds that can often be seen.
Our small groups have a low impact on the environment by using prepared paths and walkways in the sites visited. We observe park and site signage and warnings to increase safety and awareness of possible threats to the environment and future access to tourists.

People

Our use local restaurants for most of our meals while on our extended journeys. When not dining with our clients we make suggestions as to the best places to eat. All of these places employ local staff and use local produce and produce suppliers. We also encourage the support of the local wine industry while dining. Our significant experience in the region allows us to make appropriate suggestions to match the our clients preferences to a local provider.
We take our groups to Narracoorte Caves National park to discover the fossil site that has made it a World Heritage listed area. We support the work of the South Australian Parks and universities that are working to uncover important information regarding the 'Mega Fauna' existence in this area. We also visit a significant Aboriginal site at Tower Hill. This is the site of Victoria's first National Park and is home to some of Australia's iconic animals. We encourage people to discover both the natural and cultural sides of this extinct volcano while we are there.
