CARBON REDUCTION

Exploring on foot:
Walking is at the heart of this holiday, with five guided days exploring the Écrins National Park, Champsaur and Valgaudemar valleys. Transport between accommodation and the walking routes is organised for the group, avoiding the need for guests to arrange individual transfers.

Travelling by train:
We encourage guests to travel by train wherever possible. Return transfers from Gap railway station to the accommodation are included, so guests do not need to hire a car for the holiday.

Measuring our impact and supporting rewilding:
As a Travelife Certified tour operator, we use Carmacal to estimate the carbon footprint of our holidays and contribute to rewilding projects through our partner Mossy Earth on behalf of our guests. These contributions support environmental restoration initiatives but do not offset the emissions associated with the holiday.

We also provide itineraries and practical information digitally through our smartphone app, reducing the need for printed travel documents.

ENVIRONMENT & WILDLIFE

Walking through the Écrins National Park and surrounding Alpine valleys offers opportunities to discover a remarkable variety of landscapes, wildflowers and wildlife.

Our local guides share their knowledge of the region's natural heritage, helping guests learn about the plants, animals and habitats they encounter along the way.

We encourage responsible behaviour throughout the holiday, including following marked paths where appropriate, respecting wildlife, taking litter away and observing any restrictions in protected areas.

These practices help guests explore the mountains with care and respect for the natural environment.

LOCAL ECONOMY

Supporting independent businesses:
Throughout the holiday, guests stay in two independently run accommodations and have opportunities to eat in local restaurants and mountain refuges.

The itinerary also introduces regional specialities and local food producers, from traditional Alpine cheeses to homemade dishes prepared with ingredients sourced from the surrounding valleys.

Celebrating local food and traditions:
Food is an important part of this experience. By choosing accommodation providers and restaurants that showcase regional produce, we help direct part of the holiday spending towards local businesses while giving guests the opportunity to discover the culinary traditions of the Southern French Alps.
