Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

Planet

Waste: To help minimize our environmental impact, we encourage all travelers to bring a reusable water bottle and drink filtered water throughout the trip. Our guides will also provide guidance on proper waste disposal to ensure we leave each destination clean and beautiful for future visitors.

Water: As with all our trips, we recommend that guests bring a reusable water bottle and a small day bag to reduce reliance on single-use plastics. Tap water is generally considered safe to drink, and filtered water will be readily available. Additionally, the accommodations we’ve selected are mindful of water consumption and promote sustainable practices among their guests.

Transport: While longer transfers will be made via a gas-powered minibus, we’ve intentionally designed this journey so that most dining experiences, guided tours, and activities are within walking distance. This approach helps reduce our carbon footprint, supports a healthier lifestyle, and allows for a more immersive experience of each destination.

People

Local communities: We are proud to work exclusively with locally owned guides, restaurants, accommodations, and activity providers. This approach not only ensures our guests enjoy a more genuine and immersive cultural experience, but also directly supports the local economy and creates lasting benefits for the communities we visit.

For example, we'll visit a family-run farm to learn about traditional cork production and sustainable farming practices. The visit concludes with a locally sourced lunch and wine tasting, featuring the farm’s own products. Similarly, we visit a local, family-owned cheese farm where guests discover the art of artisanal cheese-making and sample fresh products. We also spend time with a talented local artist to learn the traditional craft of tile painting—a hands-on experience that deepens cultural understanding while supporting the artist directly through any purchases.

Throughout the trip, we choose to stay in 2 small-scale, boutique hotels over large commercial chains. These accommodations not only offer character and charm but also keep tourism dollars within the local community.

A Fair Deal: All of our guides and drivers are compensated with wages well above the local standard. We deeply value their skills, hospitality, and dedication, and believe fair pay is essential. Likewise, every restaurant, lodging, and activity provider we work with upholds fair labor practices, ensuring that everyone involved in your experience is treated and paid respectfully.
