Chile is the place to go if you want responsible tourism with a luxury edge – you’ll find great ecolodges and locally-led cultural experiences, plus there are some fantastic boutique vineyards. Indulge in this slow travel holiday – and savour every last drop in the country.
Starting and ending in Santiago, you’ll be whisked into winelands first, before you head into the Chilean Lake District for four days. Head south from here to spend time next to Chile’s second largest lake, Lake Llanquihue, and take in Chiloe Island for a day before you head into the desert to round off your trip in spectacular fashion.
A highlight on this trip is the time you’ll spend at altitude in the epic Atacama Desert, a place that deserves at least five nights of your time. Enjoy stargazing, horse riding, cycling and hiking experiences in totally dramatic landscapes.
This trip aims to keep internal flights to a minimum and to this end it includes an epic road trip with a private driver between Santiago and ChiloeIsland. The distance you’ll cover is over 1,500km and includes lovely stops in the winelands and the Lake District on the way. Alternatively, you can fly: this is a tailor made trip and it can be totally reworked to suit you – just ask.
