This Chile active adventure holiday takes place over 17 days so you can travel slow, go deep and see more as you explore the cities of Santiago and Valparaiso, and spend time in Chilean Patagonia and the Atacama Desert.
Start in Santiago and then enjoy the coastal city of Valparaiso, via the nearby vineyards. From here you set off to Patagonia and stay in its most iconic national park, Torres del Paine, for four nights of trekking, boat trips, kayaking and horse riding in its epic landscapes.
On this holiday, you don’t just hop from place to place, but get to spend a good amount of time in each destination, allowing you to slip away from the beaten track. This trip includes a whole week in the Atacama Desert – this vast and beautiful place deserves a deep-dive, and makes a fitting, spectacular end to your adventure.

This trip is built around spending longer in Chile's areas of natural beauty, with handpicked, independently run accommodation along the way.Across 17 days in a country more than 4,000km long, domestic flights are kept to just two: Santiago to Patagonia, and Patagonia to the Atacama. These flights cover distances that would otherwise take at least six days of driving, and using only two of them means fewer flights than a typical 'highlights' package that tries to link all the famous sights of Chile and Argentina by air.
Our guides know these landscapes well and help you explore them with care. On the trails, that means taking all rubbish out, sticking to marked paths and keeping a respectful distance from wildlife.
People
This is a slow travel itinerary, so you spend more time in each area and more of your money reaches communities that see fewer visitors than those on a classic highlights or 'bucket list' route. You'll have a full week in the Atacama, for example, around twice the time many tours allow (and there's enough to see to stay longer).You'll travel with experienced local guides who know the communities and help you get the most from each place. We chose our local partners, a boutique ground agent in Chile, for their care for guests, guides and the places they work.
We don't use international chain hotels or large cruise ships, and choose independent, locally owned properties wherever possible. This keeps more money in the immediate area and creates business and employment for local people, and it makes for a more personal stay.
