1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

The amazing animals, plants, scenery, lodges, boat portion, & very friendly Brazilians.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Make sure, your guides highly educated in the flira/fauna & to answer your questions. Be prepared for intense heat, with plenty of protective clothing & sunscreen.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Yes. We donated money to the giant anteater project in Aguape.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

10+ for everything except the guides who were not good. I would rate it 5 stars except the guides.

Sinead was wonderful!

Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

Planet

Our tailor made trips are designed with the places we visit in mind. This itinerary focuses on Brazil's wildlife, exploring the Pantanal wetlands and the Amazon rainforest, two areas of huge environmental importance. By choosing to travel here and staying in locally run wilderness lodges, you bring income to the communities who live alongside these habitats.

On this itinerary you'll stay at Araras Lodge in the Pantanal and Cristalino Lodge in the Amazon. Both are set deep in the wild, with expert local naturalist guides who lead small groups on foot, by canoe and by boat, and explain the ecosystems and wildlife you're seeing. Out on the trails, that means taking all rubbish out, sticking to marked paths and keeping a respectful distance from wildlife.

We also encourage our guests to fly less often, and where a flight can't be avoided, as with reaching Brazil, to make the trip a longer, more immersive adventure rather than a short break. We want each trip to be enjoyable, but also inspiring, so guests go home with a better understanding of these places and why they matter.

People

All of our trips take a slow travel approach, and we have chosen a ground partner in Brazil who shares our passion for community-based tourism. They work with local groups to develop off-the-beaten-track experiences, which aim to give guests a more authentic cultural experience, bring employment and investment to the area, and help communities keep their culture alive. Our partner is a female-founded and owned business, with a goal of increasing diversity in the Brazilian tourism industry.

We avoid international chain hotels, choosing independent, locally owned properties wherever possible. This keeps more money in the immediate area and provides business and employment for local people, while giving you a more genuine stay as part of your tailor made Brazilian adventure.
