Planet – Carbon reduction

Brazil is a huge country, and many itineraries include numerous domestic flights. This trip has just one domestic flight, with road and boat transfers used wherever possible in between. Between Curitiba and Morretes you'll travel on Brazil's only scenic railway, which uses less fuel per person than making the same journey by car, and lets you watch the Serra do Mar mountains and forest roll past the window.

Planet – Environment and wildlife

On arrival, each guest receives a travel kit with a cotton tote bag, aluminium straws in a fabric pouch and a 750ml water bottle, so you can refill and carry your shopping without picking up single-use items along the way. Our local partner works with schools in Morretes and Curitiba on environmental education, and in Paraty they work with local farmers who grow açaí. On the trails and islands, that means taking all rubbish out, sticking to marked paths and keeping a respectful distance from wildlife.

All of our itineraries aim to make sure as much of the money you spend as possible reaches local communities. We use local guides in every area, and we've personally chosen restaurants whose owners buy almost all of their ingredients from local producers.
