1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
The riad accommodations were very centrally located and unique to Morocco and mostly of a high standard. The tours through the medinas especially Fes were fascinating. The desert was a real experience. Chefchaouen was beautiful. The food was amazing.
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
The drive to the desert was very long as was driving through the valley back to Marrakech. If time is limited, maybe keep driving distances shorter. The luxury desert camps are pretty basic so don't expect luxury. Alcohol is limited to large cities.
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
It definitely supported local people. We employed 4 local guides and visited a few local communities.
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Our driver was very safe and reliable. He went out of his way to be helpful. The manager of the company was very easy to deal with when making plans and very helpful. The itinerary was fun and varied.
Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.
Planet
Carbon ReductionThroughout this tour, guests can enjoy Moroccan cuisine prepared with locally sourced ingredients where available, with vegetarian meal options upon request.
The itinerary is designed for overland travel between destinations, using road transport rather than domestic flights. Private vehicles provide access to remote areas that may be difficult to reach by public transport. Walking tours with local guides in Fez, Marrakech and Ait Ben Haddou also allow guests to explore historic sites on foot.
Where applicable, vehicles equipped with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems use AdBlue, a fluid that helps reduce nitrogen oxide emissions from diesel exhaust. Vehicle type and availability may vary depending on the journey.
Guests are encouraged to pack only what they need, as reducing luggage weight can help limit fuel use during transport. At their accommodation, guests can also switch off lights, air conditioning, heating and other electrical devices when leaving their rooms.
Environment and Wildlife
Morocco’s landscapes range from the Atlas and Rif Mountains to desert areas, palm groves, valleys and Atlantic coastal regions. Wildlife sightings are not guaranteed, but travellers may encounter animals such as Barbary macaques in parts of the Middle Atlas. Guests are encouraged to observe wildlife from a respectful distance and avoid feeding wild animals.
Where available and suitable for the itinerary, we use accommodation such as Riad Fez Mahal and Riad Dar Nadwa, which have been reported to use solar energy for water heating and feature rooftop plants. Please confirm these facilities with each property before booking, as features and operating practices may change.
Visits to villages, local markets and artisan workshops provide opportunities to learn about regional traditions and meet people involved in local crafts and services. Guests can support local businesses by purchasing handmade products and using locally operated services during the trip.
We encourage responsible waste management throughout the journey. Guests are advised to carry reusable water bottles where practical and dispose of plastic bottles and other rubbish through appropriate waste collection facilities. We do not recommend distributing used plastic bottles to nomadic communities for reuse, as this may create hygiene and waste-management concerns.
Our aim is to introduce guests to Morocco’s landscapes, heritage and communities while encouraging respectful travel practices and consideration for the places visited.

Local EconomyThroughout the tour, guests have opportunities to discover Moroccan craftsmanship and support local producers by purchasing handmade items such as pottery, jewellery, carpets and other traditional crafts. Purchases are optional, and guests can choose products that suit their interests and budget.
Where suitable for the itinerary and available, we aim to arrange stays in locally owned guesthouses and riads, including Auberge Atlas Dades, Riad Dar Nadwa and Riad Fez Mahal. Accommodation choices depend on availability and the final booking arrangements. Staying in locally operated properties can help direct tourism spending towards businesses in the destinations visited.
Employment, Inclusivity and Diversity
The tour works with local tourism professionals, which may include drivers, guides, tour leaders, local representatives, porters and accommodation staff. These roles help connect guests with the people, traditions and everyday life of the places they visit.
Where available, guests may have the opportunity to meet women artisans through visits to local cooperatives, such as Tapis Aicha et Zahra, a carpet cooperative in the Todra area, and Cooperative d’Argan Marjana, an argan oil cooperative on the route towards Essaouira. These visits offer insight into traditional skills and locally made products, and provide an opportunity to purchase items directly where sales are offered.
Throughout the journey, the tour leader and local guides can help guests understand local customs, cultural heritage and social norms. Guests are encouraged to approach communities and religious or historic sites respectfully, ask permission before photographing people, and follow guidance provided by local hosts.
