Camping on the Great Wall and seeing the sunset and sunrise

If you have a choice don’t go in August!

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Unfortunately not really. Maybe in Yangshuo

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Exactly what we thought we were getting. We saw many of Chinas highlights, had knowledgeable guides, met nice people and enjoyed ourselves

Thank you for your feedback! We are thrilled to hear that the Camping on the Great Wall was one of the highlights of the trip and that you enjoyed the trip overall. We we look to find ways and improve how we can benefit the local communities and environment on this tour. Whilst August may be a pretty hot and humid month to travel, we hope you still have some amazing memories to look back on!

Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

Planet

Transport:
Much of the transport with the countries is carried out using public transport, an effective way to help lower your carbon footprint, mingle with the locals and soak up the scenic views as you make your way to the next location. A lot of our activities are based on walking from place to place. These walking trips will provide you with light exercise - looking after your well being, while also reducing the carbon footprint on the planet - looking after the planet’s well being!

Accommodation:
All of the places we stay in are locally run and passionate about doing their part when it comes to the environment, encouraging travellers to think about their water use, saving energy when possible and more. On this tour, we stay in hotels, guesthouses & homestay, a great way to immerse yourself in the local tradition. Whilst you’re staying in each of these places, we encourage you to use local services on offer, this way your money goes straight into the local community and economy.

Wildlife:
Whilst we visit the Elephant Sanctuary at ChangChill, our travellers will have a proximity of 10-15 metres from the Elephants in order to closely follow a more natural environment for the animals and without exploitation for tourism.

Top Tips:
We do not encourage our travellers to drink tap water in Southeast Asia, however we still suggest packing a reusable water bottle in case there are safe refill stations so that we can still try to minimise the trail of plastic left behind.

We also recommend packing as light as possible, to help keep your carbon footprint low.

People

Local tour guides:
You’ll have a different guide for each destination you visit, with each one being a specialist in their hometown. By using local tour guides we help support the local people and provide employment opportunities.

Accommodation:
We choose locally run accommodation and are booked with local suppliers to meet our goals of giving back to the locals. Here you have the opportunity to learn about their way of life and indulge in the local cuisines. Enjoy a homestay in Chiang Mai, where you can get a taste of the simple way of life with your local hosts.

Local experiences:
Majority of the activities in our tour is designed to give an insight into the life of the people of Thailand, Laos, Vietnam & Cambodia. We include experiences that allow our travellers to soak up the language, culture and history of different cities and small villages.

All of our customers’ interactions are with local suppliers, and we promote integration between travellers and local people through our “unmissable” included activities and our optional activities, and opportunities for authentic cultural immersion.

Our Adventure Leaders are trained in ensuring that customers are aware of local customs and traditions, educating them on when it is appropriate to take photos and/or videos.
