Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

CARBON REDUCTIONS:
As a Travelife Certified tour operator, we look for practical ways to reduce the environmental impacts of our holidays.

This self-guided walking holiday is based in one locally owned guesthouse throughout your stay, rather than moving between different accommodations each night. This avoids the need for daily luggage transfers and repeated check-ins, while allowing you to explore a variety of walking routes from one base.

Walking is the main activity throughout the holiday. Some routes begin directly from your accommodation, while others are reached using short transfers organised by your hosts.

We also encourage guests to travel to the region by train. Transfers from the railway station are included, making it possible to reach your accommodation without hiring a car.

By working with a local, family-run guesthouse and organising transfers locally, we aim to keep the holiday's logistics simple while supporting businesses in the Dévoluy region.

ENVIRONMENT & WILDLIFE
Our partner guesthouse has introduced several practical measures to manage its environmental impact, including the use of environmentally preferable cleaning products, water-saving devices and energy-efficient practices.

The accommodation owners also prioritise locally sourced produce, and vegetarian meals are available on request.

Before your holiday, you'll receive access to our smartphone app, which includes information about the region's flora and fauna, alongside advice on respecting wildlife, staying on designated paths where appropriate and reducing disturbance to the natural environment.

We encourage guests to enjoy the Dévoluy's landscapes responsibly and help preserve the places they explore.

People

We believe that tourism should create opportunities for the people who live and work in the destinations we visit.

For this holiday, we work with a locally owned, family-run guesthouse and local transport providers, helping direct spending towards businesses based in the Dévoluy region.

As a tour operator based in the Southern French Alps, we work closely with local partners and use our knowledge of the region to design holidays that showcase its landscapes, villages and traditions.

We also encourage guests to visit outside the busiest holiday periods. Offering walking holidays alongside winter activities helps create opportunities for local tourism businesses beyond the traditional ski season.

Guests can reach the region by train, with transfers from the railway station included, making it possible to enjoy this walking holiday without needing a car during their stay.

LOCAL ECONOMY
Throughout your stay, you'll be accommodated in an independently owned, family-run guesthouse in the Dévoluy. Your hosts provide accommodation, meals and local transfers, helping support a small business within the local community.

EMPLOYMENT INCLUSIVITY DIVERSITY
The accommodation and local transport services for this holiday are provided by people based in the local community. Our partners operate under French employment regulations, including applicable minimum wage requirements.

We are committed to treating everyone fairly and respectfully, from the local people we work with to the travellers who join our holidays.
