Travel guides

Peru luxury
A luxury holidays in Peru doesn't mean forgoing adventure; it means adventuring in style.
Peru
Here's how to travel like a local, including a handy section on food, shopping & people.

Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

Planet

CARBON REDUCTION:
As with all our luxury holidays, this itinerary has been designed to ensure that it positively impacts the planet. We encourage travellers to fly only when destinations are farther away and to book non-stop flights where possible. In addition, we encourage travellers to slow things down by staying longer in one destination rather than taking multiple short trips each year.

We also make a special effort to recommend accommodation providers who take steps to protect and conserve the landscape for generations to come. We likewise make sure the tour operators we use to explore the land do so in responsible ways. For example, Los Qolqas has many sustainable energy initiatives in places such as Solar energy for the electricity supply of the lodge, bio-digesters for the wastewater treatment as well as the filtered water is used for water irrigation.
ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE:
When in wildlife conservation areas, we select lodges that are committed to conserving the environment, and that are dedicated to sustainability and responsibility. For example, Los Qolqas invests in recycling and reforestation which is important for the surrounding environment. The Galapagos Sea Star prides itself on having a large emphasis on looking after it's environment it's operating in. The boat runs within the requirements of the International Maritime Organization guidelines. With the yacht complying within the International Safety Management Code which aims to guarantee the marine safety and protect the environment.

People

LOCAL ECONOMY:
We promote small owner-run businesses that not only hire locally but also give back to the area’s communities.

We likewise recommend accommodations that support the local communities. For example, Los Qolqas strongly believes that the surrounding community to the lodge should benefit. The hotel set up a non-profit which will help contribute to the well-being off the Patacancha river valley, this is funded by 100% if the margin the hotel makes in activities and donations from guests. The hotel also believes very strongly in investing in education as it is key to structurally improve peoples lives and giving them opportunities.

EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY:
All the local guides referred to in this itinerary are local staff and are paid fair salaries. We believe it is vital to use local guides, as it offers a more authentic travel experience and generates local income. The guides that we use have incredible knowledge of the history, landscape, and people within Peru, meaning they’ll explain in greater depth the varied eco-system and different communities living within the areas that you’ll see during your trip. Las Qolqas is a great example of this and helps the community by hiring local guides.
